I've heard a lot of people raving about how good this restaurant is, so I decided to check it out. It was mid-afternoon and I had food to eat later at home, so I wanted just a late lunch. When I inquired about any available specials, the bartender told me that they had specials on margaritas and beer, but did not mention the price of the specials. I could not find any written information about happy hour food or specials, though he explained that to of the various nacho plates are $2 off during happy hour. I ordered chicken nachos and a small margarita. The margarita was tasty, though average. To me, the food was barely average the tortilla chips tasted stale and flavorless, almost like cardboard. The salsas were actually pretty good, but the nachos were disappointing an oval plate with one layer of tortilla chips, with some shreds of chicken, cheese, and cheese sauce. The chicken tasted as if it had been simmered for chicken soup, and there was no pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole, beans, or anything. I guess it actually did come as described on the menu, but even at the discounted $7 it was pretty disappointing. I guess I'm glad that some people like this restaurant, but I will be going to the other several Mexican restaurants I...
Read moreI'm not exaggerating when I say that this is the BEST mexican food I have EVER eaten. It's been open less than a week, and I've dined there twice. The food is so good it was unbelievable, the lighting and layout are gorgeous, the staff is consistently friendly, and the prices are a lot lower than I expected.
I ordered the Enchiladas Mazatlan and the texture of the shrimp was unlike any shrimp I've had before, absolutely perfectly cooked. My partner ordered something different and i tried a few bites from their plate. I think most Mexican restaurants use the same seasonings in most of their dishes, but let me tell you, the two meals were night and day. Mine was more sweet and delicate, my partner's was more bold and the edges of the meats were charred just enough to give a smokey flavor without changing the perfectly juicy texture of the chicken. Both dishes were amazing.
The next day, I went back so i could show a friend how great it is. I got the carne asada. The presentation was stunning. It was served steaming hot on a skillet, and again, a totally different flavor. Again, absolutely wonderful.
Honestly, fantastic all around. (I'm planning to post...
Read moreIf you’re looking for your new favorite Mexican restaurant in Lexington, look no further than Viva Mexico. We visited for the first time tonite and will definitely be back every time we’re in Lexington. The restaurant itself is beautiful with amazing artwork. They offer an extensive menu - many choices that are not the standard fare at other Mexican restaurants. We had the Tacos Al Pastor and Carnitas Tacos, and both were amazing. The strawberry margarita was also one of the best I’ve had ANYWHERE. Even better than the food and strawberry margarita was the service - it was impeccable. Viva Mexico provided us with one of the warmest, most genuinely welcoming restaurant experiences we’ve had in a long, long. Please come out and support this new, and most well...
