You can read my full length, detailed review on Yelp. I also posted pics. Lunch specials are available Monday to Friday for only $7. No "specials" on weekends. Fresh, flavorful high quality moist, tender chicken, warm, fluffy pita bread and seriously the BEST hummus on da planet! Self service. No signs indicating this so I am giving you the low-down here. Lunch for 2 people on weekends can run any where from $9 to $13 (depends on what you order). We had a late lunch on Saturday and our total was $24 and change. We only had water which was served at room temperature. No ice. It was a warm and humid day in Chicago. The inside of the restaurant was probably as hot as their kitchen. Very, very uncomfortable. Fresh, home made desserts but they are delivered there and not made there. I do not understand why they added the word bakery onto their restaurant name. They don't even bake their own sweets (desserts). A kind, respectable, down to earth owner. An owner who cares and takes pride in the quality of the food he serves. Credit, debit cards and cash accepted. Read moreNow Updated from 2 years ago - The food is ok and service used to be great. However the last 2 times I went the guy at the register and who serves is very rude and prejudice to those not of his ethnic background. At first I thought he was having a bad day but as his rudeness and prejudice were there again when I went I knew it was just how he is as a person. Will not be going back to this location. I found out from a friend the woman who used to work there is now at the Rosemont location. He told me to head over to the Rosemont location for better food and service. He now goes there as well as he thought service at this location was very rude and unfriendly. Will not be going back here. Previous review - Great food. Go here once to twice a week for lunch. Can’t go wrong whether it’s dine in or take out. Customer service is excellent. Cooks are friendly and helpful. Lady at the register is a dear, always so sweet, helpful and friendly. Prices are great for the amount of food you get. Best shawarma place in the area. Definitely my go to lunch place, always brightens my day when I see that smile...
Read moreI wanted to like it . I really, really did. The place, though small, has a great vibe and so many people from diverse backgrounds. I selected the place for my knitting pals to meet and is a great location.
The staff is oh so friendly. The place is comfortable. Not very many tables but you're not on top of each other.
One friend ordered the combo plate and she enjoyed it. The other ordered the falafel plate. They both enjoyed their food. They shared a bite and i did like it. I ordered a shawarma wrap with fries.
The fries were OK but the sandwich was really dry. The flavors surrounding it from vegetables were good that if the meat had any moisture, it would have gone from disappointing to great.
Because my friends liked their dishes and the little taste I had was really good, I have to believe, I just caught the end of the beef and it's probably a one off. So three stars because of the atmosphere and the staff.
I will try the exact same sandwich another time to see if it was just a bad day. I'll...
