Brio in Liberty Township ruined our Valentine’s Day dinner. I feel we were discriminated and lied against and it’s very unfortunate. We made reservations about 4 days prior for 9pm (party of 8). We arrived at 8:50p and were seated around 9p. 9:35 rolled around and we were never approached/greeted/served by anyone. We watched tables around us be seated and served despite coming in after us. We called over a gentleman setting tables and asked if we could have waters, place orders. He apologized and said he’d find our waitress. She comes and takes our drink and food orders. A few minutes later another waitress comes over and apologizes to us and offers 2 appetizers and a bottle of wine for the table on the house which we happily accept. Around 10pm they bring bread to the table and 1/2 appetizers, we had to remind of the second several minutes later which was then brought out. At this time we still have not received alcoholic beverages ordered and we ask if they are coming. They come out another 5-10 minutes later. The waitress helps us decide on a bottle of wine and everything is well. Another waiter delivers the wine bottle and drinks and not 10 minutes later the host (man) comes to our table and asks us what is going on, he has a waitress in the front crying and saying we were being disrespectful. We were all confused and taken aback due to being very gracious despite terrible service and still no food. At this point we defend ourselves and say we have been disrespectful to no one and would like to just leave. The waitress who offered the appetizers and wine stated to us she has no idea what is going on or why. After no manager comes back to our table after another 15 minutes we go up front to complain about service as ask for our bill (drinks, 2 ceasar salads ordered with our meal choice and 1 appetizer received). We pay and leave with no reasoning from the waitress for her lies or the neglect in treatment while trying to patronize a service. We left close to 11p hungry, confused, and furious of being lied on for no apparent reason. We love Brio, have never had any previous issues prior to this incident, and will NEVER be back. The sad part is we rarely ever get sitters and are able to have a night out as couples and we’re trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and make the most of our experience. There was no incident to initiate any accusations of rude or disrespectful behavior. I wish I remembered the exact waitresses name but don’t want to throw anyone else under the bus due to being unsure. The waitress Kaitlyn/Katie was great who stepped in but I will never forget the terrible treatment we...
Read moreThis is a COVID era review. All protocols were in place. Masks required by guests, staff were masked, limited seating capacity.
We were seated quickly upon arrival, but it took several minutes to be seen by a wait staff. While I don't expect to be waited on immediately, it was long enough that even after looking at the online menu and deciding what to eat, we noticed that more than a normal amount of time had passed. The number one thing I find hardest to forgive in food service is being ignored or forgotten. If you don't have someone to see me at my table right away, let me wait in the lobby for a moment. I understand the fluid nature of the business. It can get busy quickly. Just don't seat me and ignore me. When the server did finally arrive, he was very soft spoken and seemingly disinterested. We seemed incidental to his evening.
Okay, that star being deducted, the ambience of Brio is stately and quiet. My dining partner said it was "Tuscan Cheesecake Factory." It's a nice ambience nonetheless. Bread was brought to the table with a large pat of butter. The bread was warm and dense, a sour dough with a little hint of rosemary. As warm as the bread was, it did not melt the butter. For the life of me I don't know why butter is not served at tables that is at the very least pliant. Hard, cold butter is a nuisance. Salads were served, the Caesar being cold and crisp, with a perfect amount of dressing and light, flaky croutons. The wedge salad had a pungent cheese dressing that was slightly overpowering. The lasagna was creamy, with a savory meat sauce that had a slightly sweet taste. The tomato taste was light to almost non-existent. The Pasta Brio was hearty with big al dente penne noodles and a good balance of spinach, mushrooms, chicken, and peppers.
The portions were huge, so average appetites can share plates and get quite satisfied, or be prepared to take leftovers home. In spite of that, we ordered the warm chocolate cake. It was a small, dense, pudding textured, dark chocolate cake, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, drizzled in chocolate syrup and dusted with a light coating of cocoa powder. This is not a shareable portion, so, in the words of my dining partner, you better get your own.
Brio sits in the company of several other high profile dining establishments. It does not distinguish itself from them except in category. I'd go back, if I felt that I was wanted there. My treatment was one of indifference. A little more pleasant enthusiasm would...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Brio Tuscan Grille last night for the first time to celebrate our 10 year anniversary that we missed because of the illnesses going around and a day late valentines dinner. We had made reservations and were promptly greeted and seated, our server,Tim, who was fantastic and very affable. We asked for opinions on what to order and Tim gave us a great detailed opinion, which I very much appreciate attention to very small details. We started out with the Chicken Pesto Flatbread, it was done perfect! It had a creamy alfredo sauce drizzled on it along with some very delicious pesto drizzled throughout and medium slices of chicken. I ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese which was wonderful and full of flavor! The pasta is very al dente so keep that in mind when ordering the pasta. My husband ordered the. Mushroom Ravioli. I tried half of a ravioli and I can say this it was the best mushroom ravioli I have had yet, it had a very creamy buttery sauce inside with nice portions sizes of mushrooms, it was garnished with parmesan which gave it that little extra deliciousness! The amount of guests coming in started to pick up very quickly after we finished our entrees but Tim was great through the rush, we waited a little longer for our desert menu, which was understandable because it was dinner rush hour, but after we ordered it was brought out within about 10 minutes. I ordered the Tiramisu which was so good! The sweetness was perfect and the espresso-soaked lady fingers were not too over-powering. My husband had the Chocolate Cake which was also amazing! Once we were done with our desert we didn't wait long for our check to come and our card was brought back shortly. We had a great experience and I feel like the price point is right on point. My only complaint is the lighting was a little too yellow and bothered my eyes, this is good to keep in mind if you or anyone that visits Brio has sensory processing disorder, if so I would recommend going for lunch. If you do decide to try Brio Tuscan Grille, I highly recommend Tim(with the curly hair) as...
