THIS is pizza. My wife and I read about this place, and we were skeptical, because Columbus pizza is generally awful. We went, and the place just felt right. We got into the car, and the pizza smelled right. And when we tasted it, we both looked up at the same time and said, "We found real pizza!"
I grew up on the East Coast, near Philadelphia, where there's good pizza everywhere. I lived in Chicago for 10 years and grew to love deep dish pizza. Brooklyn Pizza is the real deal. It's in a strip mall near Powell, and it has by far the best pizza in the Columbus area. No one else is close. They get the dough right (perfect), and the sauce is excellent. I love Columbus, but I have to say: Columbus natives, THIS is what pizza is supposed to taste like. It would be above-average anywhere on the East Coast, but in Columbus it's like a little miracle.
Only two quibbles: with oversize everything in Columbus, why are the pizzas so small? And why so expensive? (This is not about Brooklyn Pizza--everywhere in Columbus, what's called a large would be a medium back East. And all pizza seems a little high.) In any case, Brooklyn Pizza is right in the middle of Columbus-area prices, but for taste, it's a 50 on a scale of 1 to 10. Seriously--it's almost not even a question of other places in Columbus being bad, and Brooklyn Pizza is good. It's that other places in Columbus serve something they call pizza (some edible, some not), while Brooklyn Pizza...
Read moreMy Dad had been talking about this amazing pizza place for the last couple of months located it Powell. Finally after we got done with work this past Saturday we got to try it. We were greeted by the owners Joe and Anthony. These guy's have a passion for what there doing and you can tell from the pizza there serving. My dad and I got the classic cheese slice, the Blanc, and the margarita. All there slices were seriously out of this world. The sauce on the cheese slice is on the of the best red sauces I have had in a long time. The Blanca (A white pizza with fresh ricotta on top) OMG literally closed my eyes and it felt like I was back in New York visiting my Sister. The margarita tasted so fresh and these guy are not skipping out on the quality of ingredients there using. Also lets not forget how every bite had a crunch, tremendous!!!! If are passing by this place or are willing to make the drive, it is...
Read morePizza was ok. It wasn't terrible, but certainly not great. I've been to NYC several times and this pizza isn't even close to NYC style pizza. I do have several other critiques as well. For starters, they do not offer pineapple as a topping, which totally blows. They also intentionally do not answer the phone to take orders if they get a little busy. While in there tonight, I heard a teen worker ask the boss if he should turn the phone back on and start answering again. That is ridiculous! Get online ordering! It is 2023! Also, they have no fountain drinks or ice available. They have cans or 2L bottles of soda with small plastic cups. The seating area is extremely small as well so I wouldn't recommend eating there. Finally, they close at 8 pm, even on weekends! Talk about lame. What decent establishment doesn't stay open until at least 10 pm on a weekend? Overall, I'd go...
