Several issues:
1- called ahead to simply ask if they have a tv and would play the masters. The response I got from Kelly was as though I was asking what the bucket of beer special was. She said they don’t play “sports and stuff.” I said well the day before I heard you played he CBJ game and she said that was a special occasion. 2- we still went there (our fault). Buddy and I walked up to get a beer and waited as a bartender seemingly filled a sink full of water. Finally we got her attention and my friend asked for a flight...she said ok...walked away, came back, handed him some paper to write down what he wanted and walked away. I flagged her back down and asked for beer while my friend decided which beers he wanted, she seemed annoyed. 3- I asked to put my beers along with my friends flight on my tab and my friend said no I got it. I said no out this all on my tab and handed her my card. She takes my card and rudely goes, “ok so what is even going on.” With no smile on her face.
Decent beers with an atmosphere of 3-5 year olds and rude bartenders. Luckily Ill...
Read moreMy favorite brewery in Columbus and probably the coolest logo of any brewery. If you're more into cervezas, lagers, and pilsners, they always have multiple good options. They of course offer IPAs and your more popular craft options.
The brewery is tucked down a side street from downtown Powell, nestled up against the train tracks, with lots of grass parking available. They have a large outside area with picnic tables, fires, and an outside bar open in the summer. There's a large wrapping patio with more seating. Inside is your typical industrial chic brewery bar that sits approximately 50 patrons. They play "millennial light rock," a mixture of third wave emo and 90s alternative rock.
There's a food truck out back that offers your average bar food at increased rates. If Nocterra is anything, it's not cheap. Four drinks and two burgers (no fries) ran me over $70 with standard gratuity.
Kids are welcome. There are no waiters, you have to go to the bar to get...
Read moreI love this place - from the design, to the beer, to the employees - but the amount of kids here is crazy. When I was a kid, parents used to go out occasionally for drinks or date night, and the kids would have a sitter or do a friend sleepover. We have been here multiple times and couldn't get a seat because an eight-top picnic table had three adults and six to eight kids sitting and running around. It would be nice if parents would recognize that this is a bar/brewery that is intended for adults over 21. This isn't Chuck-E-Cheese or Dave and Busters, it is a brewery making adult alcoholic beverages only. I travel all week and deal with screaming kids in airports and kicking the back of my seat on the plane for hours. I really look forward to a relaxing Friday happy hour with my wife, but the number of kids running around here is about the same as a Columbus to Orlando flight in the summer. There have been times when it is almost a 50/50 ratio of...
