First time trying Hueys. The atmosphere is great. It is semi-self serve. You order at the counter, take a number, grab your beverages, and pick a table.
We had the, build your own omelet (ham, cheese, and onion,) it came with hashbrowns and toast. The omelet was great, fluffy, full of meat and cheese and perfectly seasoned, the hashbrowns had a unique seasoning on them it was a good flavor but I really like them to be way more crispy than they were. The toast was thick, buttery, and perfectly toasted.
My companion had the everything plate, and it truly was everything. Scrambled eggs with chorizo and cheese, black beans, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, and a half order of biscuits and gravy. The eggs were fluffy and packed a punch from the chorizo. It was a usually good combination having seasoned black beans with everything. The bacon was perfectly crispy and smokey. The biscuits were fluffy, but the gravy lacked flavor. It was more like flour paste with chunks of sausage. From other reviews, this is not normal, so I would be willing to give them another try.
We also had a short stack and a sugar free dark chocolate mocha. I wasn't a fan of the pancakes, they were a little too greasy and "rubbery" my companion thought they were perfect. 🤷♀️ The mocha was perfect, not to sweet and still had plenty of coffee flavor to it.
We will be back, and would love to try...
Read moreI live in Lees Summit, but was staying with a friend at an Airbnb when she came to visit. When I googled breakfast places near the Airbnb, this was the first one that popped up so we went with it. It’s a cute little hole in the wall diner, which is always a good sign. You order at the counter and the menu was pretty extensive, especially for a small place. We both got the traditional platters and my wife ordered the biscuits and gravy because there was a Google review that they were a must order! I didn’t get a picture of any of it because we were too hungry but still wanted to review. My eggs (over medium) were perfect. My friend’s eggs (sunny side up) were also perfect. She ordered hashbrowns which looked super crispy. I ordered the breakfast potatoes which were seasoned perfectly! Bacon was great. Toast was great. My wife’s biscuits and gravy were perfect. The gravy is brown-ish, not white, so that’s how you know it’s going to be good. It was also seasoned perfectly and there was the perfect amount of meat mixed in. All in all, I would definitely make the trip back here to try other things on the menu and would recommend...
Read moreHuey’s is a small gem that will forever go one my favorite breakfast/brunch stops. You may have to wait to order but not long for your coffee! Or your meal! Given they do coffee orders as they go. Instead of getting over hauled. They have a system to their madness and how they serve and anyone that’s been a server or in restaurant will definitely understand why they do what they do.
My husband and I come in regularly and always love our meal. My go to is the biscuits and gravy and my husband goes all over the menu from the breakfast burrito with chorizo or their Mexican plate to normal eggs and toast. It’s always a staple for us on our Saturday mornings. The coffee is great they offer regular black coffee to cappuccinos and latte with flavors and choice of milk. The staff are friendly and enjoyable to interact...
