Bob Evans — Restaurant in Lima

I took my mom to Bob Evans for Valentine's day. Our server was very nice but we didn't see her much. The store had very few people there eating. The food. I love IHOP and Bob Evans can't even compare. The food wasn't terrible. It was below good. It was worth about 1/4 of our entire bill. But we ordered desert in spite of everything. A big piece of peanut butter pie to share! The picture was so divine, we thought it was going to save our dining experience. When it arrived at our table, we weren't sure what she brought us. The top looked the same but the rest of that pie was lacking a lot of what we saw in the picture, including colors. Of course the menus were removed so we couldn't discuss ALL the differences. We didn't finish that pie. It truly was a disappointment. To add to the other disappointments. The bathrooms were clean and the store was clean. The atmosphere was at the highest scale of terrible. It's been changed, booths removed and tables set in their place. That old, dark paneling surrounded us and it was impossible not to feel the dreariness. Everything was darkish, nothing was colorful, it was boring, nothing to look at, nothing to appreciate. It was a mood changer! I'm not sorry to say we won't return to this particular Bob Evans, Cable Rd., Lima, Oh. Aren't there regulations to follow on modernizing and maintenance of franchises? I don't like to slam on any business but I'm afraid this particular franchise has fallen to the wayside. All 4 sides of the corner of Cable Rd and 309 is looking harsh. I wonder what this means for the future of this area including the mall. It's not...

Don't place an "internet" order for your Thanksgiving meal here. I showed up at the 12:30 pm appointed time per our 6:13 am confirmation email, and the staff could not find the order. Apparently the "system was overloaded" and my order was automatically cancelled and refunded at noon. Reading between the lines, the system kicked the order back likely because the store failed to acknowledge the order at the appropriate time. Furthermore, my wife had actually called the day before and confirmed the order was in the system at the Cable road location, so this is inexcusable. The restaurant tried to do right, and after 30 minutes re-billed the meal, supposedly with a "discount", and bagged it up for me to take home. Of course I should have not trusted that they would actually take care to bag up the replacement order in its entirety. When I got home we discovered that the mashed potatoes were now missing - requiring another trip halfway across town to pick that up. And the "discount" was actually the removal of a 15% tip that was originally applied to the internet order, so there was no actual discount for the screw up.

Frankly I stood there long enough waiting to realize that the place was complete chaos, and conclude that perhaps they should only be open to service the restaurant or the takeout orders, but not both on Thanksgiving given the staff and management. It seems that perhaps the phone orders directly to the store were being handled - perhaps that works better with their "first name" alphabetical system.

From walking in the front door to the time I sat down at the table was the worst experience ever, here’s why: 1: walked in the door a wonderful lady from the back yells “ welcome to bobs someone will be right with you” beautiful smile really warm welcome!!! Two teenage girls start talking to the male hostess asking whose turn it was to sit people. Conversation went on for some time. If we are standing there WHO CARES who sits us!!! We are hungry and just want food!!! Interrupts the hostess who’s ON THE PHONE mind you. With another costumer! Super rude to him. The nice lady prior sees my husband and I are frustrated and our daughter is starting to fuss. She gives one of the girls THE definition of a death stare. Safe to say she stopped making food, walked around the counter and that got the girls butts In gear, we were seated. After a good 5 mins of all of this. We get to the table. I myself have to find my daughter a high chair. As a mother, ya I was mad after that. Then comes our waiter with her training buddie. Now these two were just like the one lady up front!!! Super sweet super attentive!!! Everything was AMAZING after that! The food the service. We wont be returning however the incident happened 11/16/24 at...
