we drove by crabby daddy’s heading to depoe bay and decided to get lunch there the next day (we had just eaten dinner), and needless to say, we should’ve eaten here sooner! the food was AMAZING, AS IN, AMAZING. my partner had the dungeness crab melt, i had the catch of the day — fresh albacore tuna as fish and chips.
as a washington local, i LOVE dungeness crab and crabby daddy’s must’ve been one of the best i’ve ever had. it’s fresh, sweet, and meaty. they didn’t skimp on the amount that was in the melt. my partner was getting full after eating half of the melt, but he couldn’t get enough of the crab so he stuffed himself to the brink.
i’ve also never had fresh albacore tuna, let alone fried as fish and chips, and i genuinely feel like a changed person. that may seem over the top to say, but it was divine. it was fried to perfection, and the tuna was DELICIOUS. nevermind what the reviews are saying about the batter needing more flavor, the flavor is in the fish!!! because it was SCRUMPTIOUS.
we were supposed to leave and drive back home after eating lunch, but we went back and bought 2 whole crabs and 8 oysters. they cleaned the crab for us, made sure everything was over ice, and we drove home! we ate the seafood the next day, and it was still wonderfully fresh.
crabby daddy’s did NOT disappoint one bit, and we are already ready to make another 5 hour drive to have this...
Read moreWe had originally tried to go to The Pelican next door with our dogs and they turned us away saying they had no server to serve us outside. So we walked next door to Crabby Daddy’s as we’ve wanted to try this spot anyway. Let’s just say, we were SO thankful The Pelican turned us away! I got the catch of the day sandwich (which happened to be rock fish) and it was the best fish sandwich I’ve had!!! Fish was perfectly battered. My husband had a cup of clam chowder and the crab cocktail. He said both were incredibly good. The soup was nice and thick with lots of clams. My son is not a seafood fan so he had the chicken strips and fries which he said were great! Get the fry sauce!! The staff is so nice! The atmosphere was great! Good music…Jaws was playing on the TV. We will definitely go back when we’re in town again. It was a nice day so the outdoor seating was nice and...
Read moreI hate leaving bad reviews, but I hope this helps guide fellow foodies in the right direction. Unfortunately, this isn’t it.
I’ve been to Crabby Daddy 3–4 times now, really hoping it would improve. Sadly, it hasn’t. I paid $60 for two fish & chips meals and one chowder — which is outrageous for the portion size and quality.
The fish was bland and small, and the chowder was mediocre at best. On top of that, the location is windy and sits on a blind corner, so I highly recommend doing takeout if you do decide to try it.
I just can’t recommend this place anymore. If you’re craving great fish and chips, go to J’s Fish and Chips. For clam chowder, check out 1st Choice Market in Lincoln City — they carry Boar’s Head Clam Chowder for $2.50–$5, which is far better than the $16 chowder I had at Crabby Daddy.
Sorry, Crabby Daddy — I really wanted to like you. But it’s just not...
