Editing my review per feedback from the owner to remove any non-factual information.
This review is specifically about "The Pines Dine" as a collective, not as an individual food truck.
The concept is nice, a group of food trucks supported by indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a bar for some drinks. I've seen it done in many cities wonderfully. As an example The Lot in Bend.
The whole idea of a place like this is to go, and pick from an array of food truck vendors depending on what mood you are in, and what catches your attention. Or for a picky family where everybody wants something different.
The Pines Dine fails to capitalize on this experience by having different hours for their bar than their food trucks. Each food truck can choose when they want to be open. Arrive on a Monday for lunch and you can get a beer but almost every truck will be shuttered.
In my first 2 experiences visiting, not even the food trucks enforce their own hours. The first visit was July 22 at 6PM on a Friday. Most places were not open and the couple that are were shutting down as it was nearing the end of the day so had a limited menu.
The 2nd time was 1:45PM on Friday October 21st. I specifically came for the Smoked Sandwiches whose hours said they were open, but upon arriving also found them closed. They were not the only ones.
The owners response clearly outlines my problem and frustration with this place. The trucks get to choose when they want to be open or closed which leads to a poor overall experience. Memorial Day, a super busy time on the coast, I thought it would be a great time to give it another try. But because most trucks are closed on Monday by default, even though it was a holiday, only some of the trucks were opened.
They are not pet friendly, and don't allow pets outside. There isn't even a pet area if they want to keep pets in a separate area. Every single food truck 'establishment' that I have been to has allowed pets.
Also, please don't keep the inside at 68 degrees. This isn't Phoenix. It was warmer sitting outside in the sun with 30 MPH gusts blowing that pierce coastal wind than inside of the building. Some outdoor fires...
Read moreWe went for our first time last night as the food trucks + inside brew pub seating and Wednesday night Music Bingo sounded fun.
The trucks: With a variety of nationalities and options to choose from, we walked to each reading menus several times before deciding on just appetizers until we inquired at two and learned that both the spanokapita and the potstickers are both purchased frozen. So we decided on splitting an Indian wrap instead. (Spoiler: Boy were we in for a treat!)
We moved inside to await our order checking out the bingo which is a sort of name that tune and bingo which had it been Classic Rock, that would be fun and also good music to watch by. When we discovered 80's, 90's and rap, it was a hard pass, and feeling sorry we ordered, we waited to takeout instead.
Upon receiving wrap, the first thing we noticed was its enormous size and heft, (figuring it must be mostly rice.). When we got home, unwrapped and cut it, we stuck it into the me to re-heat, knowing it wasn't best for the outer wrap. OMG' Delicious! The "tortilla" was nicely pan charred, crispy, chewy, soft and yummy, definitely tasting homemade. The filling was tasty, full of delicious tandoori-red chicken chunks, peas, rice and absolutely marvelous saucey flavor. It was definitely big enough as a main course for two, (we had cut up fresh raw vegetables and a beer - simply perfect!)
The food truck village is a great concept and our choice of the Indian chicken wrap was fantastic. Another couple highly recommended Momos (handmade Nepalese Street Food) and can verify the dumpling soup looked both pretty and yummy. The burgers were quite expensive and not as exciting as other choices, (which could be good option if quality meat, toppings and roll is prepared well, and especially for the less adventurous eater in your group. The Rook & Larder was closed which we'd wanted to try and as each is independent, what's open may vary. I read in a ton of Google reviews that there was a rude-screaming blonde manager, but luckily we didn't hear or see her.
Would we return? Maybe, and especially if i lived here and didn't feel like cooking . Would I recommend you check...
Read moreafter reading other reviews, OWNER is the problem. consistently gets disrespectful and rude with customers this food court was disappointing to my family and i. the food trucks themselves are great, and the people working them prepared food fantastically, but not everything there was impressive. we had our family there, everyone bought something to eat (spending well over $150) and everything was great, until it wasnât. my husband (has many dietary restrictions) had brought some lettuce and a dip that fit his dietary needs to add onto whatever food he purchased (if he was lucky enough to find one of the food trucks with his specific needs). this is how we are able to eat out alongside our family with a dietary restriction. we had not seen the sign that was posted no outside food or drink there, and would have been very alright with being respectfully informed and complying with the rules. very soon after sitting down, a blonde woman, an employee of sorts, approached my husband. she stated in a very snarky manner that the location âisnât a food courtâ, and that if we would like to be there we cannot have outside food. with this in mind, my husband stated that was okay, and stood up to go eat outside of their property, peacefully agreeing to the rules. after the woman walked away, wiped a few tables right around the rest of my family and i, she felt the need to return, rudely poking and prodding into my familyâs conversation questioning why someone would even dare to bring outdoor food in. i explained that some people may need to bring food to eat with others here due to dietary restrictions, only to receive such sass, and again, commenting that the location isnât a food court. she stated that people with dietary restrictions âusually just donât eat outâ. with the level of disrespect, ignorance, and immaturity in the situation, i was done as well. i left the perimeter, ate peacefully outside, and will not be returning again. thank you, blonde woman, as you have put a very sour taste to this place, and i do hope if you treat all of your customers like this that you find a different line of work that doesnât interact...
