I normally have great experiences with the employees here. Specifically, the young man named John was very knowledgeable and friendly helping me; I hope heâs in line for a management position if he isnât one already.
However, the old, short, and overweight male employee with white hair wearing a black hat that has a rubber US Army logo on the front who was working the back counter at 11:45am on September 19th, 2025 was very grumpy and rude simply because he had to do his job by processing a return. Instead of helping me he decided to complain about how the return would be âeasy for youâ (myself) and then continued to complain as he got a different employee do the return because he didnât want to do it claiming it would be âtoo much workâ.
He then tried telling me that he would have to scan every item in my cart, and then tried sending me to the front saying it wasnât possible to do the return back there. Turns out we only needed to scan three items, and didnât need to go up front to do so; the short, overweight, and grumpy employee only tried sending me to the front so he didnât have to do his job. The return ended up taking less than 60 seconds, and the grumpy employee genuinely spent more time complaining about having to do his job than it took to process the return; this is not hyperbole.
I overheard another employee say that the grumpy employee âalways has something going onâ which makes me wonder why heâs still employed there considering his repeated poor attitude drives away people like myself who have spent $11,000+ at this store alone for equipment needed to run my...
Read moreMiah at Mills Ace Hardware has helped me on 3 occasions so far in the past 3 months. I'm from out of town, helping my Mom, and on each time, he was very friendly, pointing me in the right direction within the store and asking if I needed help with anything else. Actually, on my 1st visit, Miah helped me four times! (finding an appropriate replacement sink faucet set, showing me where wood shims are including plastic shims, showing me different sizes of pressure treated lumber outside and then helped me check out). On my second visit, he helped me in the hardware area when I was looking for joist hangers, tension ties, and more lumber. On my third visit, he immediately knew where anti-rot wood hardener was.
I'll be back at least once a month to continue to help my Mom and look forward to stopping by Mills Ace Hardware. Please let Miah know I wrote this review and I look forward to him helping me again.
I highly recommend this store. It is very well organized and they seem to have everything I have been looking for. The Ace Hardware stores in my home town (different state) do not carry lumber. Surprisingly,...
