Let's start with what was less than ideal so we can end on what was great. The luggage dolly was too large to easily maneuver around any kind of bend let alone a hard turn and there were only turning wheels on one end of the dolly. There needs to be room #s easily visible from the parking lot. I use meal deliveries for dinner and every time the delivery person started at the opposite end of the property because you can't see the room #s on the door (which is down a 10 to 15 foot long hallway on all the exterior rooms. There are 3 stories to this property. One lower, the parking lot level and one upper. The elevator only goes from the parking lot level to the upper level. There are only 2 ice machines. 1 on the parking lot level (which was out of order) and 1 on the lower level. I had to buy ice because stairs are very difficult to go up and down with just me, let alone carrying something. They only have drip coffee makers. No Keurig style coffee maker. They only have usb ports for charging on the back of the TV and on the alarm clocks next to the beds. These charged very slow. If you wanted to charge your device and use it at the same time you had to bring your own wall plug charger not just a usb cord. On the balconies they only have the low sitting (Adirondack) plastic chairs. It is very difficult for me to sit down or get up from that low of a seat. Once down, the chair seat was still too deep for me to be comfortable. I couldn't sit back or my feet would dangle causing them to fall asleep. Now for the good part. The property on the outside is pretty well maintained and a little rustic; very charming. We had a one bedroom suite with a bed in the living room and a mini kitchen. Our room was nice sized, clean and comfortable. While the living room chairs still had a deep seat, with a pillow behind my back they were very comfy. I could open the slider to the balcony, turn the chair and watch the ocean...for hours. The diningroom table was easily moved when I wanted a better view while I was on my laptop and its chairs were a bit wider and slightly cusioned. This made them easilier to sit in for longer. On the first morning of our 2 day stay when the cleaning person checked if we needed anything I said just the trashes. She went to the kitchen sink and started washing the dishes. I have stayed at some comparably prices places before with good service but never have I had someone wash my dishes. I am sure if there were any dirty dishes when I checked out (which I don't leave; bad manners) they would clean them but not when I was still checked in. Even at home I usually have a hard time staying asleep. The bed in the living room, as Goldilocks would say, was just right. Not too firm and not too soft. I really enjoyed my stay at Pelican Shores Inn. I will definitely...
Read moreBest. Hotel. Ever! We have stayed here multiple times. And we will never stay anywhere else other than here when we travel to the coast. Their complimentary continental breakfast is awesome (cereal, milk, orange and apple juice, bagels, cream cheese, cheese sticks, nuts, yogurt, coffee, tea, muffins, oatmeal and fresh fruit) and served till 10am. The staff is really friendly. Everyone from the pool guy, to the housekeepers, and the front desk receptionists. Everyone was very kind and friendly. We even saved 10% (AAA discount) off our 3 day room stay which was an awesome surprise! We were able to check in hours early and even check out late. They were very accommodating with every single.detail of our trip.
Their heated pool is divine!! It is open from 9am till 9:30pm. I've seen them test the pool twice a day the three days we were there. (We stayed in the pool the whole time practically lol) they pool is heated to a perfect temperature and has dry towels and lots of pool toys, even a place to lay out and get some sun.
The room is amazing, the towels are soft, the shampoo and conditioner were tea tree and made your scalp tingle. They offered lavender oil moisturizer which is exactly what your feet needs after being in salt water all day. The room we stayed in was the 3rd floor fireplace suite. It had a fold away bed in the couch. It was really comfy and cozy. The room has a bedroom attached which was great for privacy with the children. It had a mini kitchen with fridge which was awesome to keep your drinks cold after a long day on the beach. And they offer free Wi-Fi and parking!
The hotel is located conveniently to the beach. It is only a quick walk down some stairs to the sand. They have beautiful stone sitting area overlooking the beach so if you don't want to get your feet Sandy or stay away out of the wind it's perfect. The hotel has an elevator and a luggage carrier to save your back and sore feet after a long day at the beach. We mostly laid out on our deck which gave us plenty of room to have the family out and have picnic overlooking the ocean. Can't...
Read moreI cannot wait for my next travel opportunity to Lincoln City because I'd stay here again without question. It's located near the north end of town where the beach is wide and gently sloped, this makes the surf smooth and easy to walk in without huge rushes of water to soak your clothing. The steps provide easy access to the sand and miles of walking. I obliterated my daily 10k steps quickly each day on the beach.
The linens were soft and abundant. The room was very clean, which can be tough with beachfront hotels and the constant sand tracking. The rooms are well insulated for noise and very quiet. I never heard a noise from an adjoining room and could barely hear the ocean from the sea-view room (with the patio door closed). The bathroom is furnished with a dispenser of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. I thoroughly enjoyed the body wash scent and contemplated ways to bring some home.
I had read complaints from some previous travelers about the continental breakfast and cramped eating area. They offer juice, coffee, tea, milk, yogurt, string cheese, oatmeal, fruit, muffins, bagels (and more that I cannot recall). I did not find space an issue as I'd rather take my breakfast and enjoy it in the peace of my room while looking over the surf. The staff encourages this and have no qualms about seeing guests leave after grabbing their selections for the morning.
I appreciated a small gesture made by the clerk during checkout. While waiting for my bagel to toast I asked if I could settle up on my bill because I had an early departure the next morning. She immediately handled the checkout process, but then invited me to grab whatever breakfast items I'd like to be ready for the next day. That was awesome and saved me a stop heading in to the airport.
The rooms have DVD players and they offer movies for rent and games for kiddos if inclement weather keeps families cooped-up.
My only complaint about my entire stay is the parking lot. It is a bit tight and becomes impassable if a car is stopped...
