authentic fun! obviously a labor of love of a family that cares. so much has gone into creating the main dining space. we were brought to a spotless booth & brought chips & salsa that were perfection. fresh & lively flavor. we new we were in for a treat.
was so excited to see chili colorado on the lunch menu (my husband actually told me the moment I sat down), since it's one of my favorites. they even make chimis & burritos with it! ordered the lunch with flour tortillas while the husband ordered chili verde with corn (we compliment each other well!). also decided on a Cadillac margarita, while hubby got iced tea. both came quick.
the food was fast, hot & delicious. we cleaned our plates, got extra chips & even a slice of key lime custard cake to share. if it's available when you come, it's a must try.
we left full, satisfied but wishing more restaurants showed so much love in their livelihoods. I stopped on a whim, just knowing THIS was the place to make up for 3 days of menu mediocrity.
the place was full of locals, with a roofing crew from Phoenix and a family of Mormons, a realtor & her new client & fishermen. we were the token "tourists". the kids working all look related & the adorable little girl acting as hostess brought a smile to all (she really seemed to be having fun too).
wish this place was closer to home. it's worth the drive if you're...
Read moreIt seems no matter what time of the day, or what day of the week, the service is always bad. Recently, I was the only person in the restaurant area and it took forever to get a waitperson to take my order. The wait staff person was more interested in preparing for the busy crowd that might’ve been coming in later. The service is always extremely slow and frustrating! It has happened more than once that I had to get up and find my server to get extra salsa or chips or anything for that matter. The food is OK at best. The margaritas are good but expensive. I have never ever had a manager stop by my table to see how things were going. It’ll be a cold day in Guadalajara before I go back to this restaurant. Seriously, there has to be better Mexican restaurants than this place. Maybe if people start going to other Mexican restaurants where the service and food is better, they’ll finally get the idea that they need to hire more waitstaff and provide better service, or hire a manager that actually cares enough to check on...
Read moreI have gone here about 5 times....love the food. Usually I get the Chicken Ala Crema - chicken is a cream sauce - comes with rice and beans, and tortillas. Love it, but one complaint. The plates they serve their meals on are very very large. The actual servings of rice and beans - very small. They like smear the beans, til the layer is less than 1/8 of an inch. Like if you painted it on the plate. Looks like alot, but if you scrape it all together, it only comes to a small batch about the size of the bottom of a cup. Measurement wise, probably about 1/4 cup. Rice is not that much bigger, and is sprinkled all over a side of the plate. My husband had the skirt steak, flavor good, but once again it looked like a small portion that was pounded out to look bigger than it was. Steak was also paper thin. We are now debating if it is worth going to or not. ...
