It really made me feel like i was in one of those highway diners you see in the movies. The atmosphere is fantastic. It was alot more full then i was expecting. The staff and the customers are both friendly. Time wise i believe i was in there for about 45 minutes which isnt bad at all. Unfortunately the food isnt great. Its not bad just isnt great. It was an okay meal. The prices seem pretty reasonable as well except for the tea, which was by far the worst experience i had there. It was $1.60 for a single cup that you then had to make yourself. Teabag and all and honestly the tea was a very basic black tea that tasted so cheap i bet you can find a box of them at the dollar store which was very disappointing. A few suggestions i have for the owner to help bring in new customers as well as just make it overall more pleasant are these, 1st get some public wifi set up, 2ed is to add more drinks to the menu. Get some green tea, mochas, frappuccinos, chai tea, just something more then basic black tea and coffee. And lastly, which this is a small thing, add a menu to your website for newcomers to get an idea of what you're selling. Over all its a pleasant place that if you enjoy these kind of oldschool places you will probably love and if im in the neighborhood i might stop by, but im not going to go out of my way to...
Read moreI decided to have a late breakfast here because a friend recommended Cook's. In the past, I was in this area after they closed. Today, Thursday, I had a dentist appointment that ended while Cook's was still open, and the dentist's office is just a few steps away.
The interior is much bigger than I thought it would be. I was seated as soon as I walked in. A waitress asked me if I was ready to order not long after I was seated. I ordered orange juice, hamburger steak, scrambled eggs, hash browns, Texas toast, and a cinnamon roll. In hindsight, I should have request to have the cinnamon roll served last because it's basically a breakfast dessert. It came before the rest of the meal, so it sat for at least 10 minutes before I ate it.
The scrambled eggs were good, the hamburger steak was cooked medium well and was great, and the hashbrowns & toast were cooked perfectly. I enjoyed the cinnamon roll, although I probably would have enjoyed it even more if I had eaten it as soon as it was brought to me. That was my fault. I also enjoyed the glass of orange juice. The waitress was pleasant and attentive to my needs. The only criticism I have is it would have been nice if I had more than 1 napkin.
I'm glad I finally gave Cook's a try. I anticipate visiting again on the weekend. I recommend Cook's for a...
Read moreKids wanted pancakes and we were close by, off to Cook's!
We were told it was a 25 min wait but were seated after about 10 🥳. Almost immediately my daughter spilled her water everywhere which is usually my bulldozer son's department. Within seconds our server and a coworker were on it with towels and it was rapidly resolved. Rather impressive actually.
They got their pancakes, both ordering identical plates. Kids cake upgraded to a Happy Face with Strawberry Banana. They loved every bit of it, my little one literally humming a happy tune while he ate.
I am on a French Toast kick and chose the Sweet Combo with hashbrowns and scrambled eggs. Also ham which the kids split. It was yummy, fluffy eggs, crispy hashbrowns. Totally hit the spot!
I really liked our server Jackie, a total pro, she was on top of it! Wait times on food are consistently long but food is great and reasonably priced.
Please note that prices on their website do not match their current menus. It happens. The only problem I had with it is the kids menu in person listed the upgrades as $1 and we were charged $2.50 per plate. That may sound inconsequential but when the pancakes start at $3 that's like double. I would likely pay it again, it just would have been nice to know...
