Edit* My husband and I were huge fans of A Taco Affair. Usually eating it multiple times a month. We moved away from the area 4 years ago. We had an opportunity to be back today briefly and we both were so excited to grab our favorite comfort food, tacos from here!! We were even more excited to hear of the new location and taco truck. They seemed to really have grown! We were so disappointed 😞 My buttermilk chicken was hard as a rock, I could not even chew it. The bits of pork in it were also burnt and rock hard. The ahi tuna Taco had 2 small pieces of tuna and was 90% cabbage. My husband was equally upset with the po' boy. He said the crab fritter Taco, which was always his favorite, was really bland and super sloppy. One of our favorite things was the amazing and unique sauces and flavors we had grown to love. The chef was definitely different and the atmosphere had changed. The server was nice to us, but seemed frustrated with the chef who got orders for other customers wrong. If it had been one taco, I could see that as a one off, but the whole meal was just not good. Sorry to change my 5 star, but this was a waste of money.
This is my favorite taco place!! The food is reasonably priced, super fresh and the homemade salsas are out of this world. The owner and creator comes up with the most amazing taco creations....
Read moreI had high expectations considering all the awards this restaurant is decorated with, unique flavor combinations on the menu, and praise on social media.
Unfortunately, I left very underwhelmed. I tried a few different tacos on the menu - the sesame tuna, crab fritter, and pork al pastor. The flavors were just not there. Dry pork, bland torillas, disproportionate ingredients...
I'm really curious about what the competition was for them to win the best seafood, vegetarian, and beef taco at the New Jersey Taco Festival.
Response to restaurant: I predicated my review with mention of your accomplishments because they are notable and also on display in your store.
The focus, however, is centered around my experience with the food, for the reasons that I mentioned. Maybe y'all had a bad day, it happens, but my experience would still be the same. As a home cook and foodie, I'm always happy to be proven wrong. 🙂
FYI Google reviews are based on 3 categories: food, service, and atmosphere. I added my "2 cents" because my experience didn't match my expectations.
I understand the hard work that goes into running a restaurant, and I'm happy for those people who do enjoy your food. Hope you...
Read moreFirst off know that this is not the normal taco restaurant as their menu has very unique combinations. Personally I think that it was somewhat expensive for what it was. Five tacos, order of churros, and two sodas was $35 for my husband and I. Don’t get me wrong I pay a lot more than that for dinner, but for that price I would rather my food served to me rather than having to go to the counter to pick it up and clean up my garbage and tray when I am done. Taco choices are unique and I enjoyed some much more than other. My biggest gripe was that none were hot or even warm. Maybe because the only thing hot seemed to be the meat. when it goes in a cool tortilla and gets cold toppings and dressing there is little warmth left. We stayed there and ate them as soon as I picked them up from the counter so no delay. I cannot imagine how cold they would be if you got them to go. I liked the fact that they told me to tell them when we were ready for the churros so they were made fresh after we were done with our tacos. I am glad we tried it but probably...
