I was extremely unsatisfied with the custom cake I ordered for my birthday. I had a positive experience with your bakery last year when I ordered a cake for my boyfriend, which is why I was surprised to be so underwhelmed this time.
Despite providing detailed reference photos and instructions via email, the final design of the cake did not meet my expectations. The cake’s design lacked the effort and attention to detail I anticipated, especially considering the nearly $200 I spent. Additionally, the customer service I received was not satisfactory. When I called to make a deposit and discuss more details about the cake, I was asked to pay immediately without discussing the design or flavor, as these details had not been addressed in our communication prior.
I understand that costs for labor and materials can be high, but the minimal effort put into the cake’s design and the poor customer service have led to my decision not to return in the future.
I hope this feedback helps improve your service for future customers.
Edit in response: " So sorry for your experience. We go above and beyond on every cake and when we address problems with a cake. We did not feel like we did the cake incorrectly. We offered to add items to address your concerns but you could not specify what you wanted and how the cake was different than the picture you provided. When an individual calls to ask about a cake for a specific date that is coming up quickly yet has no idea on design we always recommend a 50.00 deposit to hold the date which is what you were advised. Im sorry we didn't meet expectations on this cake. We take all orders seriously and we take all complaints seriously. I'm sorry we couldn't figure out how best to help you based on our conversations with you. "
This response is almost laughable because no questions were really asked when I called in to put down a deposit. I had to be the one to say " hey what about flavor and etc." That's when we discussed details. No questions were asked like " how closely do you want it to resemble the photos"
Yall didn't offer to add details because if you did I would have specified even further. Hence me saying in my original post that I had to be the one to bring it up over ther phone. On your website yall advise that you call 3-2 weeks prior which I did. I also asked via email is this enough time for yall to do the cake and yall said yes.
Your response just goes to show how unprofessional yall are. Do not lie about a conversation you did not have, because the details are skewed. I am not one to normally even say something or be confrontational but what yall did is wrong. Let this be a warning to those who are looking to order custom...

Submitted an order over the phone paired with a follow-up email including a picture of the cake I wanted a replica of. The end result was not what I expected in terms of cake dimensions, color, or quality.
While they gave me a $20 discount, I expected a closer replica given they charged $59 for the cake. While they tried to make it right by offering a change of color to the icing, there was obviously nothing to be done regarding the dimensions.
Blue Cake states in their comment below that they would have fixed the height issue in 30 minutes, but this was not communicated clearly. No time estimate was provided and another employee implied the dimensions were not something that could even be fixed. As for the closeness of the cake, I will attach the original photo and potential customers can judge themselves.
They acknowledged that the icing job should have been better and the color was hand-mixed and that’s why the color wasn’t the same.
Overall I am just disappointed. You only really get one shot to get a birthday cake right and I feel like Blue Cake missed the mark on this one. As a result I do not plan on being a repeat...
Read moreOH. MY. GOODNESS. Y’ALL. Blue Cake Honey Pies are the most wonderful wonderful people!! Last month, our daughter had her wedding cake made in her hometown and then drove it three hours away, to their wedding venue, just outside Little Rock. En route, the cake fell over in its box. In a panic, I found Blue Cake, Honey Pies, which was near our Airbnb, and asked for help. You have never met kinder or more helpful people on the planet. We brought her cake to them the morning of the wedding, in a pretty sad state. By noon, it was put back together, and absolutely stunning. I honestly think it was prettier when they were finished with it than it was when the kids picked it up from the original baker the day before! I cannot tell you how much we appreciate what Blue Cake Honey Pies did for us! The kicker is that they refused payment and did it out of the kindness of their hearts. (We pressed money upon them anyway!) If you are in Little Rock, and you need a wedding cake, go to Blue Cake Honey Pies! Honestly. They are the best people. We toasted them at the reception, of course! Thank you, thank you, thank you Blue Cake Honey Pies from the whole Doyle - Gracie family! You...
