they made the worst cake i’ve ever had for my 30th birthday. :/ my name was spelled wrong, first of all. my husband even stated explicitly how it was spelled. second, the cake is SO bad. the frosting is dense and incredibly sweet. it was supposed to be layers of lemon cake with lemon curd and strawberries. this entire cake slice is probably 10 inches long. three massive, whole cakes untrimmed. the strawberry was just strawberry jelly and NONE of the cake tasted like lemon. additionally, one of the cake layers was bright yellow and the other two were white? idk. DONT order a cake here. 🤢 we’ll be requesting a refund as it was inedible. edited to add: the bakery ignored my husband’s emails about a refund. when he called, they offered only 50% back because of the “labor” that went into this inedible hulking piece of trash. they finally offered $75 back (on an over $100 cake). trash business and trash product so disappointing. edited again: we were able to get a refund. the bakery has attempted to give me something to make up for it, which i appreciate. however, they had the opportunity to get it right the FIRST time and they really let me and my husband down. nothing can turn back time and make my 30th birthday less disappointing.

I really wanted to love this place. It was just okay. After doing some research we decided to give this place a try. As I am learning more and more in Little Rock if Im new to the place, or have questions, and not ready to order then I feel like I need to get out of the way. Besides the service being insincere and rushed, which seems to be common for new hot spots downtown, the food was just okay. They made the soma toast sound great. Their fresh bread topped with avocado, egg, and tomato. Both my husband and I were not happy because it was guacamole not avocado and for some reason the tomato smelled of fish. I'm guessing they are stored close together, but it was unpleasant. The best part of it was their bread. We decided to give their pastries a try. They did not seem homemade and were dry. I wanted hot tea because I don't drink coffee, but they seemed frustrated that I asked because they didn't even know what was in stock and had to run and check. It was cheap bagged tea that is sold at Wal Mart. They were crowded. Alot of coffee drinkers were in there. Unless I just want a loaf of bread we probably won't be back.

this was one of my favorite places i went to while i was in little rock, and i wish i had gone earlier in my trip so that i could have been a repeat customer! i ordered the broccoli cheese soup and a chocolate chip cookie. the man who helped me was so incredibly kind and friendly, and i realized later that he actually gave me two cookies since one of them was crumbling. the soup was good! the broccoli pieces were a bit firm for my liking, but it was still tasty. the best part though was the little roll they included to go with the soup—it was SO soft and delicious. the cookies were also yummy. there is quite a good bit of seating available inside, along with power outlets if you're looking for a place to get some work done. the service is friendly and warm, the food is good, and the prices are super affordable. it was clear just from my one visit that it's a business that's doing a lot of good for the community! can't wait to go back next time i'm in little rock!

My last visit to Community Bakery definitely left a bad taste in my mouth and it wasn't because of the food. My wife had ordered a birthday cake for my daughter's 8th birthday party. She had started chatting them a few weeks ago to map out the details of the cake and cost. The weekend before the party, they store and my wife chatted about the visual details of the cake and we were given a base price and told they would get back to us on Tuesday with the upgraded price. Cool. We didn't get the updated price until Wednesday. A day late, but, no biggie. My wife, on Thursday, calls to check on the timing of when it would be done for the party on Saturday. We were informed by Julie that it would be done by 1pm on Sat. My wife told them that would be too late seeing how the party started at 1pm. Then, Julie said it would be done by 9am on Saturday to accommodate our party. So, Saturday comes rolling around and my wife forgot which location it was at. So, she called, talked to Julie again, and got which location it was at. My wife was again reassured it was going to be ready by 9am. At 11:30am I and the bestie went to obtain the cake from the downtown location. When I got there I asked for the cake and was informed I was about an hour early. With a puzzled look on my face, I asked about it being ready at 9am and they had no answers for me. I was told that it was being worked on and it would ready in 20-30 mins. At 11:47 I stepped out to call my wife and see what all the details to getting the cake were. She told me about all the details I previously mentioned. So, we waited 30 mins, I went back in. It was still being worked on. I then informed them of all the information my wife gave to me and all I got was an, "Okay." Not even an apology for any of the delays or miscommunications that were involved in this whole situation were given. So, we waited another 15 mins and this time I waited in the store. I felt like they couldn't get me out of the store quick enough. Then, when the cake came out, it looked great, but, again, no apology was given and instead a "Thank you" was stated. Like, an apology could have been the least the store could have dished out, but, no. I might have given them a better rating on Customer Service, but, I am also remind of the times when I would deliver for them through a 3rd party app and every time I went there to pick up an order I was treated as if I was a plague. They couldn't get me out of there quick enough. Very disheartening. I'm always a big advocate for local businesses, but, when they do things like this, I lose that want to direct anyone to places that handle their customers with below par skills....

I have been a Community Bakery customer all of my life. I even remember my mother purchasing birthday cakes from this bakery when I was a little girl. HOWEVER, over the past few years, I have been more than DISAPPOINTED with the customer service. The workers, with an exception to very few, have been rude and discourteous! For the past three years, each and every birthday cake order has been incorrect, yet because I LOVE the taste of their white cake and butter cream icing, I continue to endure. This past weekend, I purchased a half sheet cake and sugar cookies for my son’s birthday party. Not only were my purchases at the WRONG LOCATION, but they were also incorrect AGAIN! After the inconvenience of driving from the Shakleford location to Main, I then had to wait for them to correct the order because it was completely WRONG! With that said, I missed the first half of my son’s birthday party and did not receive one “I’m sorry” from management. In fact, the one and only time a manager even stepped out of the kitchen to acknowledge me was when I requested to speak to one after being expected to PAY FOR MY INCORRECT ORDER. I was completely shocked and insulted. The actual manager that came to speak with me was JOHN SPROLES. Mr. Sproles was RUDE AND UNAPOLOGETIC. He acted as if I was an inconvenience to him and continued to repeat the phrase, “that’s all that I can do,” several times as I expressed how upset I was by the service. IF YOU PLAN TO ORDER FROM THIS STORE, YOU MUST FIRST CONSIDER IF YOU VALUE GREAT CAKE OVER RESPECT AND SERVICE! My advice: you can get great...

First off, I don't usually do this sort of thing. I would normally take my bad experience and never return. However, because this day was special to me and my family went out their way to try to make it special for me, I felt the need to share.

So my sister ordered a cake from the Community Bakery on Main Street so that I could have a cake on my birthday to share an experience through video chat with my family. They had good reviews so, we thought we would have something to complete this momentous occasion.

When I went to pick up the cake yesterday, I spoke with them and let them know that my sister was not happy with the cake, and the manger stated very rudely, "So....what do you want me to do?" Like I'm supposed to come up with a solution. The decorator was gone for the day so I left the cake with them to pick up the "fixed" cake the next day (today, a day AFTER my birthday).

The round cake in the first picture is what she ordered online. The second picture with the red lettering was the first cake I went to pick up yesterday that wasn't what she ordered. I picked up the second cake with the blue lettering today, a day after my birthday and it was stale, crumbly, dry, and overall was one of the worst cakes and experiences that I have ever had. On top of that, although the cake was bigger and looked better, it still wasn't what...
