It was alright. I was excited to try Honduras food, and even more excited when I saw they had three different plant proteins!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 nopales, cauliflower chorizo and oyster mushroom asado. If you are vegan/vegetarian, I without a doubt would get the Sencilla Baleadas and add the cauliflower chorizo. Even the girl who took my order said that was an awesome choice. It was soooo delicious. Warm, full of beans, and the tortilla was even tasty and seemed homemade. Remove the cheese for vegan and I know without a doubt it would still be amazing. Next I tried the homemade corn tortilla taco with the nopales filling. This was just okay. Nopales is already a slimy plant but it can be done right. This version was cut into really thin strands and to me I didn’t pick up on much flavor wise, except a slight pickle note which I can’t explain and just too slimy. I’d try another plant protein or meat over the nopales. Lastly I got an Arepa which is what they call a cornmeal pancake stuffed with cheese and other fillings. It kind of reminded me of a small sope sandwich. I picked the oyster mushroom asado as the filling- I was determined to try all the veggie options! This one was okay- for some reason it had a very pickled taste I couldn’t get over which after tasting that in the nopales taco I’m wondering if that’s a common spice in Honduras cuisine. The atmosphere is really modern and eclectic. There’s a fun room in the back with tables and ping pong so fun for a date night. The bar is beautiful and well stocked. It’s more on the boujee side if you like a cheap, basic beer- they don’t have em’. All in all, I’d go back for the Sencilla Baleadas with the cauliflower but I’m okay without the others. They just weren’t for me. A thousand thanks for having...

So when my local friend sent me a list of 4 restaurants to choose from on my one night in Little Rock, I chose El Sur. I travel in a Broadway touring show all over North America and I have yet to see a 4.9 google rating with over 350 reviews. Once I looked at the menu, this was my pick. Well the reviewers are correct! This food is a perfect 10! I ordered a sampling of everything I wanted to try, the Con Todo (carne asada, as recommended by the co-owner who conceived it being with steak), the Yuca, the plantains, and a mixta pupusa (which came with a vinegary slaw and mild chipotle sauce, perfection). I could only eat half of the large portions and took the other half to enjoy the next day. When I came back to the hotel my partner had arrived after having eaten a ramen bowl at the ATL airport but decided my food was too good and couldn’t help but finish it all. And that my fellow readers, is all you need to know. You’d do yourself an injustice if you didn’t try this food! We plan to stop by for some lunch to take on the road with us when we...

The dining experience at the restaurant was truly remarkable, characterized by an exceptional menu that offered an array of dishes rich in flavor and health-conscious ingredients. Each meal not only tantalized the taste buds but also fostered a sense of well-being, reflecting a commitment to nutritious preparation. The staff exemplified hospitality through their friendly and welcoming demeanor, ensuring that patrons felt comfortable and attended to throughout their visit. Additionally, the establishment maintained a high standard of cleanliness, further enhancing the overall dining atmosphere. Such qualities undoubtedly contribute to an enjoyable and satisfying experience, making it easy to recommend the restaurant to others. I am so impressed that I plan to return next week, bringing along friends who I have already referred to this delightful venue. This visit solidified my belief in the importance of both excellent food and attentive service, and I look forward to sharing this experience...

What a great and unique place to find in SOMA district of Little Rock. We stopped in on a road trip from Dallas to Nashville and were glad we did. First off you wait in line to order then find a seat. However if you sit at the very nice if small bar you can order food directly there since we were in a rush that was our move. They have a nice local beer selection and very creative cocktails for $10. I really enjoyed the rhubarb mojito. Brunch is served on the weekends but we stuck with the traditional menu. A tamale that was the size of a burrito served on a banana leaf with tasty little pickled onions and packed with tons of meat. A cheese papusa that puts grilled cheese sandwiches to shame and a simple but delicious bean dip presented on a lovely stand with candle to keep it warm. Staff was friendly and if we had more time we would have enjoyed the large space out back with ping pong tables. Next time we're driving through we will be stopping again.

Our lunch today at El Sur was, as always, delicious. El Sur is a Honduran restaurant in downtown Little Rock. We shared a delicious pupusa filled with cheese and beans, an arepa filled with chicken seasoned with aromatic seasonings, and two tacos, one al pastor and the other carne asada. There was so much food for the two of us that we took enough home to have another meal of it. I love the very tasty homemade tortillas and the homemade chips made from those tortillas. My one quibble with El Sur is that some of their salsas have sugar in them. I know this because my palate tells me so. I realize this is a concession to Little Rock taste, but it's not to my liking. El Sur's owners and workers are always eally nice and welcoming. Their tamales are excellent. We've ordered a dozen of them in the past to take home and should do that again.
