Good classic All-American burger. This was the first time I've ever stopped in a David's Burgers and it was an interesting experience not typical of the usual Burger joint. Very tasty fresh made burger and hot fresh fries.
Warning: if you are a huge fan of David's and love the atmosphere they have created at least at this location, then please don't read anymore of this review, especially if you're prone to getting offended by other people's opinions. I thoroughly understand if you feel differently. Thanks for respecting my point of view as I respect everyone else's. If not, then you might want to leave it here.
Now the rest of the story... I was greeted when I walked in but there were so many people talking in unison from behind the counter it was hard to make out what was said. A very attractive looking young lady took my order and answered my questions in a seemingly pleasant, but clearly overly practiced uni-tone manner which came across as both unnaturally overly friendly and at the same time a completely disingenuous customer interaction. Nothing about her demeanor seemed genuinely friendly or real. I could have excused that as a single incident or maybe a young person still uncomfortable in their interactions with customers and trying to compensate, but it just kept getting strangely more... weird.
The burger I ordered was made fresh however and while I was waiting, I was offered some hot fries another overly cheerful young lady laid down on a napkin she had me place on the tabletop. I thought these were great differences then the standard burger place. I had a cup for my drink and asked for my choice of soda since the drink stations were all behind the counters.
The main issue was as I waited for my burger to arrive and actually throughout my entire meal, there was a constant background muttering cacophony of an in unison rise and fall of the same fake clearly practiced but almost ghostly moaning babel which would flare up to a crescendo to what I think was an almost unrecognizable and exaggerated "Welcome In" which the entire troop of young ladies behind the counter gabbled out anytime a new guest walked in the door. But it wasn't just that. There were also additional in unison mutterings of some other unknown babel being sung out in that same strange ghostly tone at random intervals throughout my attempt at enjoying my meal. Perhaps it was that I was eating alone that I noticed it so much, because those engrossed deep in conversation around me didn't seem to notice or were tuning it out. But I did hear another customer say aloud "what in the world are they going on about" confirming at least I wasn't completely crazy. 🤣 🤣
I'll admit though, I had just dropped off four teenagers after an hour and a half drive so maybe I just wanted some peace and quiet, but it was certainly not a place for a quite lunch or genuine customer interaction.
Clearly they are taught to welcome people in unison, which is great on the surface, but the moanful and unnatural way it was executed, at least that day, was off-putting to say the least. I'm all about smiling and greeting guests in a friendly and cheerful way, but it is so much more meaningful if it's genuine and natural. Again, great fresh tasty food, so I will go back with a friend and try to enjoy a freshly made burger from David's again soon to give it another try maybe at another location. And if it's a different experience will gladly update the review and say so.
Hope everyone has a Wonderful Day and if you read all the way through this rant then WOW, I guess we're all just gluten's for punishment. Sorry! 😳 Lol
God Bless and here's to great and joy filled memorable meals together with friends and...
Read moreThis was my first time at Davids Burgers as I was only visiting Arkansas for a few days. I visited this location Monday Dec 2nd. When I drove up to the restaurant, I could see employees actively cleaning the tables AND seating. Upon walking up to the restaurant an employee opened the door, greeted me and welcomed me with a smile.
The cashier greeted me again, and was very friendly and patient as I figured out which combo I wanted to order. After ordering and filling my drink I sat down; an employee came around and offered me fresh fries while I wait. Wow, the fries were actually tasty fresh cut fries. The drink options are pretty basic but they offer shakes as well. They offered sweet and unsweetened tea, with lemon wedges as well
The atmosphere of this restaurant was very clean and kinda 50’s-esq. But absolutely what I expect from a burger and shake joint. My only complaint is that the booths were sort of tightly placed in the front by the windows where I sat but they had plenty more seating available to include tables and chairs.
My double patty combo (Combo #2 if I remember correctly) came out shortly. I ordered a double patty combo with mayo, lettuce, grilled onions, cheddar, and american cheese with sides of ranch and Davids sauce. The burger was larger than I anticipated, and the patties were even larger than the bun. For smash-burgers, I was pleasantly surprised with the size and juiciness. The beef and all ingredients were all fresh. The cheese pull on my burger was amazing.
After I got my food, an employee came and checked to see if everything was to my liking, a few minutes later they came back and offered me more fries.
After I finished eating, the same employee came back and gave me a small cup of ice cream. I was honesty blown away with the service I received during my visit at this location. I wish we had a Davids Burgers in Baltimore MD...
Read moreUpdate: David's is now my favorite burger place, and top favorite restaurant in Arkansas. On this latest visit (been many times now), I watched the employees through the drive-thru window, and they were having so much fun! They were laughing and smiling, and seemed to really enjoy their jobs. If you haven't tried David's Burgers, do so. You'll be addicted to the food, just like me!
Original post: This was my first time to David's Burgers. I found another favorite! The burgers taste like the burgers we used to grill at family gatherings. They are so good! They are expensive, but taste like home. About the toppings: You can add whatever you want, at no extra cost. They use fresh ingredients. There were three big slices of tomato on my burger, and a beautiful piece of lettuce (not some half-wilted chunk of white leftovers), good size onion slices, and pickle slices. As for the condiments, there was barely anything on there. I had asked for ketchup, mustard, light on the mayo. I didn't even see any mayo when I looked. Now for the cheese: it's extra, and according to type. I chose Pepper Jack, which was 49¢. It looked like they used shredded cheese, the way it was melted only in a small area, barely inside the burger. Not worth it. The ice cream cone was delicious! They have vanilla, chocolate, and swirl, for $1.99 (cup or cone). And they gave my dog a little ice cream sample (I usually don't let her have human food but she did enjoy it!). All in all, it was a good experience. And when I drove up to the drive-thru, the employee who was standing outside taking orders, explained the whole concept of David's Burgers to me. She went over the whole menu, and made sure I was happy with my order before proceeding. I didn't feel rushed, like at most places. Very nice. Also...
