The Dojo — Local services in Little Rock

If you love Magic or Pokémon and hoped Little Rock finally scored a player-first TCG shop, think again. The selection looks like the same mass-market sealed product you can grab at big-box stores, but stickered like you’re paying a convenience tax. Singles are priced as if every card is in auction-day heat, and the whole model comes off like predatory pricing tactics that prey on FOMO rather than serve players. It feels like they’re blending retail MSRP with secondary-market markups and passing every penny straight to the customer—transparent to them, punishing to you. There’s no reason to buy here unless you’re determined to pay what you’d expect from a parking-lot scalper, only indoors with better lighting.

What really rubs me wrong is how they wrap those numbers in “community.” Building tables and running events is great, but using that captive crowd to float inflated Magic and Pokémon prices is gross. When other locals are already noting that the prices are high, that tells you everything about the value proposition. Went to check out after cleaning up things I had pulled out at about 3 minutes to close yesterday 9/12. They had already closed out the register even though I’d been in there for an hour picking things out. Told me to come back tomorrow if I wanted to buy anything. The BEAUTIFUL atmosphere they have created here at the Dojo speaks for itself. On top of that, the staff and owners are the kindest people you’ll ever meet. Anything you could ever want to find, they’ve got it. Plus some you probably didn’t even know you needed! The Dojo is a beautifully inclusive space for events and casual games as well as a perfect place to meet/make new friends. If you’re looking to get into gaming but don’t know where to start, the staff is knowledgeable and would LOVE to help get you into the deck of your dreams. 10/10...
