Food was insanely good, best we’ve had at a Mexican restaurant in 20 years of living in Colorado. Had the fajita burrito with queso (bf really liked the slight char flavor), tacos de adobado (so, so fresh), and the beef flautas, which were good but not as notable as the other two. Chips and salsa were great, and the drinks were phenomenal. The Postales Margaritas were incredibly good.
I had never had salsa Blanca and I tried a side on a whim with my tacos after seeing it mentioned on the menu, and I can’t tell you how incredibly amazing it was. I could drink a bowl of this stuff and not even question my decision - it’s that addictive.
Only (minor) criticism was that there were only three people working the floor so they were doing multiple roles, including hostess, server, and cleaning. I believe the owner was bartending as well. It was very nice to not have a Mexican dinner be done in 35 minutes (not uncommon in a lot of restaurants) but we had a couple of lags at times where we were waiting (for new drinks or someone to check on us). I believe the bartender was the owner - when I complimented on the salsa Blanca he let me know he’d tweaked the recipe and felt like it was a good one (it’s stellar!). Something I personally appreciate is he had the server clarify if I wanted a short or tall vodka soda - I prefer short ones but often get talls automatically. We were impressed to the point of wanting to introduce ourselves next time.
Atmosphere is really cute to be in. Menus have a leather cover, there’s a brick wall, chairs are all painted, and the bar is really nice. Plants and unique lighting really make it a nice atmosphere to be in for a while. Food was absolutely sensational.
We had six drinks and three entrees between 3 of us and our total was $108 before tip, so very reasonable. We live five minutes away and will definitely become...
Read moreI had an absolutely incredible dining experience at Los Portales Mexican in Littleton, CO. The star of the show was undeniably the steak fajitas. They were cooked to perfection, with tender and flavorful steak accompanied by vibrant peppers and onions. The sizzling platter created an enticing aroma, and every bite was a delightful explosion of savory goodness. The fajitas were served with warm tortillas and a generous array of fresh toppings, taking the experience to another level. I can confidently say that the steak fajitas at Los Portales Mexican are some of the best I've ever had.
Not only were the fajitas outstanding, but the margaritas were also truly delightful. Los Portales Mexican knows how to craft a fantastic margarita. Whether on the rocks or blended, each sip was a refreshing and perfectly balanced combination of premium tequila, tangy lime juice, and just the right amount of sweetness. It was a symphony of flavors that complemented the meal wonderfully. And let's not forget about their horchata—it was a true elixir of life. Creamy, smooth, and perfectly spiced, it provided a refreshing respite from the bold and zesty Mexican cuisine. Served ice-cold, it was the perfect companion to the meal, and I found myself savoring every sip.
Aside from the outstanding food and beverages, the service at Los Portales Mexican was exceptional. The staff was warm, attentive, and passionate about ensuring a memorable dining experience. The vibrant and inviting atmosphere added to the overall enjoyment of the meal, making me feel welcomed and comfortable throughout. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Los Portales Mexican for a truly fantastic Mexican dining experience. The steak fajitas, delightful margaritas, and heavenly horchata make it an unforgettable culinary...
Read moreWe came to check out happy hour after receiving a flyer in our mail. We liked the food, but the margaritas were mediocre. We ordered the Portales marg, and it has orange juice in it. We watched them pour it pre-made which is fine, but the OJ had a stale taste to it. It was also really weak. We ordered a shot of tequila to pour into it. We also ordered food from the happy hour menu. We tried the chicken quesedilla and the Carne Asada tacos. Both were excellent. They could give you a little more pico de gallo, however. They bring you free chips and salsa, but the salsa is wayyyyy too hot. I couldn't eat more than one chip. Too many jalapeños for sure. When they brought our bill, they didn't give us happy hour prices on our drinks and one of the food items which were both on the happy hour menu. The owner tried to tell us the drinks were not on happy hour, so I had to pull up the menu to show him. I am not sure why he tried to give us dinner prices on the tacos at first too. He was happy to adjust our ticket, but had we not looked it over, we would have been fully charged. It made me wonder how often the establishment tries to do this to their customers. I would love to try some of their other menu options, but they are on the pricey side. I would suggest trying them out for happy hour first. We will likely come back for more food but probably go someplace...
