Really disappointed and disgusted with my experience at this Littleton establishment earlier today as the unique menu and positive reviews offered a promising experience. After a few minutes without being greeted or addressed, I seated myself and noticed that the bench next to me was dirty with bread crumbs. This should have been the first warning sign but I was determined. About a quarter of the way into the smoked salmon spread appetizer, I started to pull out a very long, mind you not a short one, strand of hair out of my mouth like thread. After multiple attempts to get the waitress's attention, she was informed and responded in a nonchalant, half apologetic tone. Even after this second strike, I should have left but wanted to try the Knick Blackberry Burger with fries but once again fate kept throwing warning signs as the order too was screwed up receiving chips instead. The burger was good but after a few hours waking up later with a churning stomach and thinking about THAT string of hair, I am repulsed by the idea of some other unidentified or unwanted "secret" ingredient that made it's way into the hamburger. As a fellow patron earlier mentioned, service was incredibly slow and inattentive during a low volume period. Staff were also fooling around near the kitchen. The only highlight was another male waiter who profusely apologized. BUT NEVER TO RETURN, shame on me for trying to exhibit tolerance and ignoring common...
Read moreAlaskan inspired grill with a laid back atmosphere. When we came in we stood around a couple of minutes before someone told us it was open seating. So we grabbed a couple menus and picked a spot. Service was fairly quick. It did feel like it might have been a bit busier than expected for the two people doing table service. No problem though everything was attended to in a fast enough time frame.
I enjoyed drinks coming out in Mason jars, nice touch for the atmosphere. I had the fish and chips (cod), and my partner had a BLT. She saw a menu item came with cheese curds and asked if she could have that instead of fries, which they accommodated. Very nice to be able to mix and match even with items not normally served as sides. However they were kind of lack luster as a side. Fish and chips were excellent, crispy and tasty. Fries were very good as well, made fresh and seasoned accordingly. BLT was quite tasty as well, lots of crispy bacon. The sandwich normally came with a sauce which she asked to have on the side, I thought the sauce was great for dipping but didn't blame her for not having it on the sandwich.
Two people with no alcohol made it out for fifty dollars pre tip.
Overall a welcomed addition to the neighborhood. The food and atmosphere was good and service more than adequate. I will be back to try more items...
Read moreWe’ve been fans of the Denver location on Kipling for years and couldn’t wait to check out the Littleton location on Santa Fe.
If you’re already a 49th fan, you’ll find the same delicious food and amazing service at the new location. The specials differ at each location, so check out their Instagram & Facebook posts to see what they’re featuring at each spot.
We started with the smoked salmon dip — which was just as tasty at the new location as it has always been at the Denver location. Make sure you try one of their Alaskan beers on tap. We both enjoyed the Husky IPA.
For our meal, we both opted for the monthly burger special (see chalkboard pic). It was one of the best burgers we have ever had! The lemon ricotta, beets, apricots and arugula complimented each other and the always delicious elk/beef blend patty so well! It was a perfect savory and slightly sweet delight!
The 49th staff is always friendly and makes you feel like one of the family, and they’ve managed to capture that feeling at the new location. Consistency is key in the restaurant world and these guys are beautifully consistent between days visited and the new restaurant, which is huge only 3 weeks after opening!
I can’t recommend The 49th enough - it’s an...
