Stopped in for an early dinner on a Saturday. They dropped off a basket of papadum and some chutneys before taking my order. The sweet chutney and mint chutney were both great, but I wasn't a huge fan of the tomato and onion one. The chunks were a bit too large to easily work with the chip-like papadum.
I went with lamb in a spicy tomato and chile base curry, I think the menu called it Karahi. I ordered it Indian hot; it was spicy, but not burn your face off hot, more of a slight perspiration level of hot. It came with a bowl of basmati, a bit more than needed for the serving size. The lamb was good, though there was a lot more curry than meat.
I also put in an order of paratha. It came out quite large and very thin, with nice flaky layers and texture to the dough, with a nice whole wheat flavor that wasn't overpowered by the ghee. I usually only see naan and maybe roti as options at Indian/Nepali places, so I was excited to try their paratha. By far, the best Indian flat bread I've had in Colorado. I would come back just for the paratha.
Overall, I'm happy I tried this restaurant. Denver doesn't have much choice when it comes to Indian food, so it's nice to know there are more options if I drive a bit. I'll try the vindaloo next time and see if their version of a classic South Indian dish can hit the hotness levels I'm hoping for. Worst case, I get to eat that...

From the rip, the service was incredible. Attentive, communicative, and generous; we were well taken care of and felt welcomed. We received a few complementary dishes because of the recent opening, but we will be happily ordering the same ones for full price in the future (vegetable pakora and samosas were both outstanding).
Most importantly, the food was fantastic. The butter chicken was rich in flavor, the lamb korma and saag paneer equally flavorful, and others at the table were pleased with their chicken tikka masala, chicken rogan josh, and tandoori chicken. I always try the saag panner at a new place and base much of my opinion on the dish. It was the best I've had in Denver! Additionally, the servings were a little on the larger side, making sharing easy even while taking extra home.
Special note: I do not like chai teas. When they offered us complementary ones while waiting for our meals, I figured I'd try it. It was AMAZING. Perhaps I need to give the whole genre another try, but the balance of ginger, milk, and chai was perfect.
The interior was a little bland as far as atmosphere, but I think that was largely because it was a quiet weekday night.
I will be much poorer in pocket but wealthier in joy for having found Tajmahal and its...
Read moreLet me first say about the person who was there by himself when we went here last week. He was amazing!! He was handling the entire restaurant by himself. All the others apparently didn’t come because of a festival they had. He was all smiles and attended the customers wonderfully. So kuddos to him. I didn’t even get a chance to get his name!
Now to the restaurant. Small cute place. Apparently been a year since they opened. Ordered butter chicken, chicken curry and naan. Also ordered tandoori chicken and mix grill platter but as you can see you cannot tell the difference lol. It was more saucy than dry. I know for a fact that tandooris or mix grill are more towards the dry side. All the food tasted mediocre. I don’t know if I’ll go back there again
A note to the person who schedules shifts: make sure there are minimum 2 people working the front. I understand there is festival and all but he is a human too. I’m sure he didn’t mind working by himself. He was amazing. Always smiling. But if you are working at a place expect to miss few holidays or else close the restaurant...
