We eat a Ted’s Montana Grill often! We eat off the regular and gluten free menu and usually have good experiences. Today, we tried a new location in Littleton off of Santa Fe. This was not a great experience. We ordered 4 meals. Most came out ok. Some products were not on the correct plate. One of my kids ordered the Canyon burger which was supposed to come with jam, but the jam was on my other kid’s plate. Not a huge deal, but definitely a lack of attention to detail. At other Ted’s, I’ve seen servers review a meal at the counter before bringing it to the table to be sure it looked and was correct. This step seems to have been missed at this location. I only order 2 menu items at Ted’s due to allergies and it is either the skinny dip or the big sky salad with the kale salad as the base, instead of romaine. Today. I ordered the skinny dips and I was clear that if the salad dressing had sugar, then to please just bring me oil and vinegar instead. I usually get this with oil and vinegar, but I thought I’d see if the “normal” dressing contained sugar. The meal came and the kale salad had an oily substance under fresher kale on the top. I tasted it and it had something like salad dressing and it was sweet. I told the server and just asked her to remove the item from our bill. When, we handed her the plate, she instantly started arguing with us saying that there was no dressing and she stood there next to our table and used the fork to dig through my salad to try to prove me wrong. Apparently the server did not believe me. She came back a few moments later to tell me that she spoke with the manager and that the roasted corn and tomato salsa had sugar in it and I should be aware for next time. Again, this is literally the ONLY item that I eat off of their menu and it has NEVER been sweet. The manager NEVER came over!! The server continued to come over and continue to try to prove her point…. I explained that we had eaten at multiple locations and never ever had the sweetness. Customer service was non existent. She was not very attentive once our meal had arrived. She did refill drinks. She never stopped by to see if the meals were to our liking. We had to flag down another waitress to get her attention. The location was not busy. Due to allergies, we generally eat at off times. I believe there were issues in the kitchen in preparing the food as there were a few French fries on my dish and it was not part of the skinny dip meal. She removed a meal from my kid, without asking if she was done… And There was definitely an oily, shiney, sweet substance on the kale salad and it was covered up with a handful of fresh kale as if I wouldn’t notice. I called another location to confirm how they make the roasted corn and tomato salsa… and I was told that it does not contain sugar. Usually, in my experience, salsa does not and definitely not to the level of very sweet. I was lied to, argued with, assured that the salad did not have any salad dressing.. and she just continued to argue the point. The server seemed somewhat irritated and curt. And again, a manager never came to the table to address this situation…? Why? Seems very strange. She did return to the table to tell me that she had eaten a salad at another location and that it had tasted different than how it does where she works? Could there be that much of a difference in how food is prepared from location to location? We are not ones to complain. But we were definitely disappointed by what service at some restaurants looks like today. Could it have been a new employee or a bad day in the life of..? Yes… but regardless, what happened to good customer service? We were just very taken aback by the restaurants response. Just disappointing… We definitely will not be returning to this...
Read moreWorst meal ever. I've had better service at McDonald's. Spoiler: after terrible service, the waitress felt entitled to steal from us by adding a tip well over what we authorized. Ted's Montana apparently is fine with entitled thieves among its wait staff, as well as staff that doesn't wash their hands on the wash room.
We came in for a birthday dinner. We don't care for the fuss, so we didn't advertise it as such, just wanted a nice dinner together. The family one booth from us was a "treat" from the first minute. Constant screaming from the baby, their toddler wandering over to check out our table, the parents not even trying to keep them quiet or stop their kids from running up and down the aisle and touching our table. We kept trying to talk over them and enjoy the evening, but the nonstop screams for a full hour were very distracting and frustrating.
While we were eating, yet another toddler came to our table, touching it and everything. The parent was looking over the toddler, yet did nothing to tell their kid to stop touching other tables and their food. At this point, we became frustrated and asked them to tell their kid to stop coming around to touch our table yet again. The parent was very offended and said "they're just kids", like the parents have no say over what their kids do. Clearly one of those parents who don't care how disruptive their kids are to others.
Eventually, a manager came over to speak to us, thanking us for our patience and saying that the table next to us was leaving. She literally acknowledged that she would never allow her own kids to behave the way the other table did and that it was unacceptable. However, she told us that "there had been some swearing". The table next to us had screamed and came over to bother us for the past hour, without any acknowledgment. However, apparently us trying to ignore them and enjoy dinner and not pay attention to how "kid-friendly" our language was the real issue? To be clear, there was no swearing at any other party. When we did ask the parent to keep their kid from touching our table, we were curt but polite. I guess we didn't watch our language in our private conversation to make sure no coarse words escaped and either the family or servers were listening and took offense?
The manager said something about how they were a "family friendly" restaurant. I am well aware Ted's is not an adults-only place and we have been seated next to families there, and elsewhere, without issue. However, I didn't realize "family friendly" meant that we, as a couple, had to make sure the language in our private conversation was perfectly kid-friendly while the people with kids in the booth over screamed nonstop, spied on us, came over to touch our table, generally disturbed our meal. I didn't realize "family friendly" meant the family can do no wrong and every other paying customer has to cater to them.
Separate issue - I used the restroom and witnessed one of the staff leaving the bathroom without washing their hands. Absolutely gross. Wasn't looking and wouldn't have believed it but they were 100% in the uniform.
We won't be returning. We hope any party that eats here doesn't sit by a rude party that holds them hostage to their rudeness. We also hope they aren't served by the waitress who finds it too difficult to wash her hands after using the toilet.
Edited to add: we later found out that in addition to providing terrible service, they also charged our credit card for that night for more than we authorized. The waitress appears to have felt entitled to adding $30 for an extra-large tip for herself, on top of our tip. Disputed it with the credit card company and was resolved in our favor. This place not only provided terrible service, but also literally tried to...
