I never leave google reviews- let alone bad ones, but after paying about $60 for two people to eat with terrible service, I would rather go somewhere else.
We came in as a group of 6- our server told us that there would be an automatic gratuity of 20%. Understandable, so we asked if that still applied when we would be paying separately and she told us yes in a rude manner. My problem is, does an automatic tip make our server think her customer service doesn’t matter? Because she’s gonna receive it anyways? Throughout ordering food, eating, and payment this lady was just rude. I get we all have our days and you never know what someone is going through, but don’t take it out on your customers. I wouldn’t mind a 20% gratuity if the service was actually good!
My sister wanted the Galbi wings, and they were sold out. Not the servers fault, however if I were in the service industry, I would at least say sorry for the inconvenience instead of a snarky “Mhm”….
Anyways, we stay positive and she picks something else to order, hoping our experience can improve.
After ordering, our sides come out first. Nothing wrong with the food! But I would prefer to have my side with my food, not as an appetizer. Afterwards, a co-worker receives his wings, and he respectfully waits for everyone else to get theirs before eating. I would say it took about 7ish minutes for the rest of ours to come out. It’s really not a big deal- but I would assume one of the reasons for the gratuity charge is because it’s hard to get that many orders out at once? I don’t know.
The food was very good- but I wish you were able to order less than 9 wings. You have to pay a minimum of 16 dollars to get wings (9 pieces). And there are no combo meals, all sides are separate. Paying this much for chicken, I would expect good food AND SERVICE!
When we were leaving and headed to the car- another couple stopped us and asked if our food was good. I replied yes, but not for the price. They agreed and continued to tell us that their server was also rude, the same girl we had. I wish I had gotten her name but clearly I am not a crazy person if other people feel the same about their experience!
All in all, I will not be going back. I would rather spend that money somewhere else where I actually feel my server deserves the tip. :(
Good food (with a crazy price tag),...

I hardly leave negative reviews and it really goes against me to express the negative feelings I have about this place, but I think it can serve as a pertinent information for some choosing to patronize this establishment.
Our recent experience at BBQ Chicken in Live Oak was disappointing, to say the least, primarily due to communication issues and poor customer service.
We came in as a group of five couples. The first two couples ordered meals to-go, and Bryan V., the employee taking our orders, may have initially asked them whether they were dining in or taking out. However, he then made the incorrect assumption that everyone in our party was ordering to-go. When the remaining three couples placed their orders, he failed to clarify or even ask whether the orders were for dine-in or take-out.
After placing our orders, we sat down, fully expecting to dine in. When Bryan V. informed us that our food was ready, we were surprised to find it packaged in to-go containers. When we asked why, he insisted we had indicated take-out, which was untrue for the last three couples. We explained that there must have been a miscommunication and asked if we could simply eat at the numerous empty tables in the restaurant.
Unfortunately, Bryan V. refused, citing the manager’s policy that take-out orders couldn’t be eaten inside the restaurant. Even after we explained the misunderstanding and the fact that we had tipped when paying, there was no willingness to compromise or accommodate our request. It left us wondering—was the tip just for handing us our food across the counter?
This experience was frustrating and disappointing. A simple clarification about dine-in or take-out would have prevented the issue entirely. Furthermore, the restaurant should reconsider its policies and train its employees to communicate more effectively and to prioritize customer satisfaction by exercising reasonable judgment and flexibility.
To top it off, the food itself was average at best. The unpleasant experience ruined any chance of fully enjoying the meal. BBQ Chicken in Live Oak needs to rethink its approach to customer service, as we left feeling undervalued and unlikely to return.

Read moreAte here for the first time today with two others. Not bad. Interesting concept. The various chicken options (whole chicken, boneless/bone-in wings) are available with a variety of sauces on them or just fried. Had the boneless wings with the Secret Sauce. The chicken pieces were very tender and pretty large. I had mixed feelings on my sauce choice. Was thinking based on appearance it would be a little more like Chinese orange chicken, but it was not. It had a little heat and was tangy, but I'd probably try a different one next time. The service was friendly and good. Wait time for the food was not bad. The restaurant was clean with multiple large screen TVs playing K-pop videos or Korean cartoons and K-pop music piped in over the speaker system--not a "relaxing" atmosphere per se, but interesting.
I see a few issues with the business model of this chain. First, the smallest number of wings you can get (what they call Medium) is 9. That is a lot of chicken for one person, so all of us did not order a side, which turned out to be a good call. Second, it is not cheap. The medium size is $16 by itself, but we got the "lunch special," which was $15 and included a drink with the chicken (no side). After tax and tip, my 9 pieces of chicken and a canned Dr. Pepper was over $19. If you want a side, such as regular or waffle fries, those are $6 each. We didn't order or see someone eating any, but they must be bigger in size, with the intent to share, for that price. Third, the drinks are all in cans or bottles. No soda fountain or brewed teas, etc.
I think if they don't offer a smaller number of wings as an option, a better combo for a decent price, and allow the customer to get the price and portion size in a better place they are going to struggle for business. This especially in the current economy. Not a bad experience, but at this time it's not somewhere I'm going to regularly go to when there are so many other cheaper (and very good/better) chicken...
