This was my 3rd time eating at 54th Street Grill. We decided to go there because its open late, and it was nearing 9pm.
The drinks came out quick, and service was pretty good, as far as being seated and initially waited on. When we weren't ready to order right away, there was a long wait before the waiter returned.
After looking at the menu options, I decided to try one of the hamburgers, as they appeared to be a popular item. There were many options to pick from, but the Devils Den Burger caught my attention. I love spicy food, so this was a must try.
The Devils Den Burger is described as a 1/2 lb burger patty, with wing sauce, thick cut bacon, Monterey jack, chipotle mayo, a standard side, with ranch or blue cheese. I upgraded to some onion rings, and ordered the ranch with mine.
When the food arrived everything looked good, the burgers were quite thick, the bacon was crisp, cooked perfectly, my 1/2lb meat patty was medium well, and appearance wise the burger looked great. The flavor of the burger was good, but the sauces were scantily applied, uneven, and not very decernable. I wished there had been much more wing sauce, as I added the ranch to the burger and it made for an interesting flavor, when I actually got a bite of wing sauce I could taste. The burger didnt really live up to its name, it had nearly no spice at all. It was basically mild buffalo sauce.
The onion rings were large, crisp, and had good flavor, a nice upgrade to the standard options.
The other person I was dining with ordered the avocado burger, which was also a 1/2lb burger, but with avocado, avocado ranch, Monterrey jack, and bacon. They commented as well that their bacon was the highlight of the burger. They opted for the grilled asparagus with their burger which was a very small portion, about 3 sticks.
At the end of our meal, we asked to rang up at the cash register, as the person I was dining with had recently dealt with identity theft, and did not want to turn their card over blindly. The waiter left, a few minutes later came back and walked us over to the waiter station which was in use by someone closing tabs. He left us standing there and went out to wait on tables. The other employee finished their tabs, walked away, and returned to cash out additional customers before he returned. At which point he walked off again. After another 5 minutes or so he was nowhere to be found. The store manager saw us standing at the wait station, and came over to see what was going on. He checked us out himself.
Overall the food was good. Prices were a bit on the high side for burgers, but they were 1/2lb burgers and the portions on most of our items were decently sized. The sauces that make these specialty burgers could have been better, and applied more liberally, or even put on the side, but instead left me struggling to even detect the sauces.
The largest downfall was probably our waiter service. Who left us waiting at the beginning and end of the meal. I guess he lived up to the title "waiter".
The entire experience was so-so. $50 for 2 burgers, 2 sides and 2 sodas is on the high side, so I would at least expect good customer service, but 54th Street failed to deliver on a few fronts. 2 out of 3 visits, I've had customer service issues now.

Read moreThis was a horrible experience! The manager Ian and his man bun need to get fired or find a different job. His lack of customer service, respect, and emotional intelligence were very clear. We ordered a to go order and when we got home I was more than disappointed. I’m not one to call and complain but when you spend a decent amount of money and half of your order is MISSING and the rest is overcooked or thrown together, we definitely called to complain. I had hungry kids and the idea of having to spend the money to drive all the way back again was more than annoying. I was also irritated because we currently do not have silverware and none was provided in our bag. Which apparently is no longer provided with a to go order??? and you have to specifically request it now? News to me. We ordered here because all I was craving was some soup but it never made it in our bag. They also took it upon themselves to replace some of our items with other things without telling us since they were out of what we originally ordered. I was furious. Ian was definitely a piece of work. He is beyond rude and disrespectful. When we called before driving back over there, he originally stated they would remake our steak but when we got there he said we had no proof and refused….so because we weren’t going to drive all the way back home and come back a THIRD time again to get it, we asked to at the very least give us the soups we paid for that were never provided… he then tried accusing us of lying. Please! Please go ahead and check your cameras! And when you see that your store took money from us without delivering goods we paid for, I want to remind you that it’s called theft. I would love for him to step in our shoes and see how he would react to spending money on a family meal, drive all the way home just to have to drive all the way back because your entire order was messed up then be accused of lying but refusing to check the cameras and not offering any kind of apology or compensation knowing that by the time u get back home with ur hungry children your entire meal is now cold. It was the worst 60$ I have ever spent on food! I’m originally from the Midwest and I am used to our midwestern hospitality and being respectful and neighborly towards each other …moving here has been wild! Who treats people like this?. If it wasn’t for the other manager Bobby stepping in at the end, this situation would have gone much differently. Bobby is the only reason we might give this place another shot but I am honestly irritated at how much we spent between food and gas to be treated so poorly and eat cold mediocre food… I think I can find a better place to spend my...
Read moreThis is an amazing restaurant worth checking out! I would recommend this place to anyone who would like to enjoy an affordable and memorable meal. Staff are friendly, willing to take requests, and assist those in need. The restaurant is a reliable choice whether you’re dining solo or with a group. The food is lightly seasoned so make sure to add some salt and pepper to spice the dish up a tiny bit more. This restaurant will have you craving their food again in no time.
This restaurant exceeded my expectations and proved me wrong in the best way possible. 54th Street Restaurant & Drafthouse has a comforting atmosphere, a diverse menu, and affordable food. Prices range from soups that are $4.50 to steak and ribs for $28. The establishment includes vegetarian and gluten-free options, offering something for everyone. The menu features a wide variety of dishes from different culinary styles. The location offers a kids’ menu as well as soft and alcoholic drinks that include all age groups.
One out of the many dishes I received, the one that stood out to me was the mashed potatoes with white gravy. It is incredibly creamy and immediately melts in your mouth. Another dish I had that surprised me were the “tater kegs.” They are tater tots stuffed with bacon and cheddar with sprinkled chives on top. However, one note I had was that some of the food, for example the chicken wings, weren’t seasoned well, but salt and pepper were provided at every table.
Furthermore, 54th Street Restaurant & Drafthouse has interior decor that is appealing and vibrant to look at. The atmosphere feels nostalgic with various 1980s-style mementos such as props and posters that help boost customers’ experience. There are plenty of TV’s around the restaurant, providing entertainment through sports and various news channels. A broad mix of styles and genres of music are always playing in the background–not too quiet, not too loud—there were many popular music picks I enjoyed. The waitress that served my family accommodated service that was fast and reliable. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food and guests chattered with...
