Zephyr Grill & Bar — Restaurant in Livermore

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on you. Fool me four times, well....We've tried Zephyr a few times over the last 10 years and have never been impressed. Mediocre food and lackluster service. I had hoped that after 5 years, things would have improved. But sadly, no. It was a Monday night and the place was far from busy. The female bartender with the dark hair was not friendly and always seemed like she was being bothered. My friend asked her a question about a drink and she looked so annoyed to have to talk to a customer (unless it was a friend of hers passing through, whom she jovially would wave to). My friend asked to close out her tab and offered cash. It sat there for over 15 minutes while the bartender walked back and forth. Again, it wasn't busy. We eventually took the tab with us to our table when we were seated for our reservation. A young man who I assume was a manager on duty then approached us about closing our tab at the bar. Well, we were trying to do that for nearly 20 minutes while your bartender waved hi to her friends! Then, we waited another 20 minutes for a waiter who finally showed up to take a drink and appetizer order. The appetizer never came, and the two glasses of wine took another 15 minutes to arrive. We put our dinner order in shortly after happy hour ended, and seeing as I wanted the chicken sandwich on the HH menu, and we had sat down well before HH, I asked if I could still get it. The waiter nodded and took the order. Our food took 45 minutes to arrive, and it was only mediocre. And at the end of the night, I was charged an extra $26 for my chicken sandwich instead of the $14 HH price (it was charged as a prime rib sandwich). I asked about this and was told they couldn't change it. We were also charged for beverages that were never ordered (which were taken off). A long winded review, yes, but that's how disappointing the night was--again. I can confidently say we will NEVER be back and will not recommend this place when there are so many other excellent places...

Tried booking on OpenTable I had a few notes about what I would like for my reservation. What was so pleasing, was somebody actually called to confirm what was on my notes and that they reassured me they would have everything ready when I got there with my guest. I arrived first, and the table had not been ready. They also stated the table was not ready because they needed to see if my guest was old enough to drink champagne. Which in my opinion was understandable. However, when my guest did arrive there wasn't anything served at our table none of what was spoken to me about on the phone never happened... We waited 20 minutes for service. I asked the hostess where was the champagne, she said speak to your server...When service did arrive we were notified after 15 more minutes that we will not be served in a sufficient time because there was a large party before us. So we sat there with water... My birthday guest decided she did not want to stay because she felt like she was not welcomed. Both the hostess and the server were very condescending... We felt like we were gaslighted... (A side note however to the person who did call me it would have been so nice if what you had said on the phone would have come to fruition... It would have made for a really great birthday celebration... Unfortunately, that did not happen!) We will not ever return nor will we have anything good to say about that place, other than the really nice person that was on the...

We came here for my sister in law's birthday celebration. This place came higly recommended and had stellar reviews. On arrival at the restaurant, the separate room was already set up and everybody in our party was sat accordingly (20 people including kids). Drink orders were taken immediately after seating, that's when the dillema started. With a party of 20 people there was only one server taking orders and catering to all individuals. We started to place our main course order immediatley after drinks were served 1245pm. Most of the people in our party ordered the rib eye. Upon serving the orders, we had two servers delivering food at our table. Mid service, one of the servers disappeared and was not seen again. Steaks were cooked wrong and bland on taste and had to be returned to the kitchen multiple times. Some orders were served missing side dishes. One person in our party did not get his steak after everybody was almost done eating. To add more insult to injury, the servers nor the manager did not check on us. No drink refills or whatsoever, we had to go to the front customer service to get to go boxes and to ask for the bill. By far, this is the worst restaurant experience we have. Will definitely not recommend and would not be coming back.
