J. Alexander's Restaurant — Restaurant in Livonia

I went there with a group of friends. Although we usually frequent the other locations; we somehow ended up in Livonia last nite. That being said; I was last to arrive to meet my group. I joined the table & things seemed to be going well. Our waitress "Ingrid" seemed nice as well. However, I personally FELT this odd energy coming from her. Yet she & I had not conversed, nor interacted. I still was able to notice the way she never greeted nor acknowledged a new guest at the table. The empty seat was now filled, yet nothing. I simply had concluded that she isnt a manner able waitress; & carried on with a great time. When we ordered drinks and mimes took much longer than the other ladies; I didnt understand why, but I was happy once it came. When Miss "Ingrid" took the dinner orders she took the tree people to my left SKIPPED me_ then took the person on my right....then me. I found that just as odd as this energy. Yet, still; I said nothing. At the end of the nite, I added on item on for carry out. As we were leaving; that item (untouched) fell out of my bag& spilled. I alerted the nearby staff, as well as "Ingrid." Although I had just spent $160 for my portion alone; "Ingrid" didnt do what is actually customary elsewhere. The dry/expressionless LOOK on "Ingrid's" face told me that she was NOT concerned with my spill, nor with accommodating me in that matter at_all. My spill was-just something I literally HAD to take as a loss. Which, for me, is expected in Livonia. "Ingrid" gave me a look that said (to me) this is WHY "YOU"(me) DO NOT GO TO NOR THOUGH "LIVONIA." Being IN LIVONIA is why I was NOT offered another bag to properly accommodate the items in the first place. In LIVONIA🤷🏾‍♀️ Whatever fell, is just too bad_ No matter WHAT I just spent_there. As you can see from my "emoji;" Im a NNNNNNneveRmind. That HATE RUNS DEEP & its real. & Her final gesture confirmed what I thought. She probably doesnt like the super DARK antioxidant RICH Chocolate. Tans are about as far as she can STOMACH. The tree others werent even milk chocolate. I came on like BLACK COFFEE_no cream. I think she can ONLY fake liking coffee__IF it has heavy cream. Thats why I STAY AWAY...

I use to love J alexander. Its been a couple of years since ive been but i made sure to make it for my birthday which was saturday 3/11. The wait was 2 hours for a party of 4 but i was just so excited to finally be at one of my favorite restaurants again, i didnt care. Walking in me and my party felt over dressed but i guess thats nothing the restaurant can help. I guess ppl dont care about how they look in public anymore but after we were seated our waitress that never stated her name came to the table as if she was annoyed and just asked if we wanted water. Now all of the ppl i was with work in the hospitality field so we understand how it can be at times but her attitude didnt get any better throughout the night. Maybe she was having a bad night idk but she made our whole mood change. She was just rude and mean 🤷🏾‍♀️. Me and my husband both ordered the maui steak medium but mines was not a medium it was more so rare once u got in the middle. My husband didnt want to make a big deal so he said we would just take it home and cook it a little longer. Our bill came to $173 which wouldve made the tip be around $30. I wouldve given her $50 but instead gave her $20 which she didnt deserve but like i said i work in the industry and just wouldnt feel right. Now the next day, i went to work without eating because i usually dont until i get home. Ate my left over orzo and wild rice which i use to love and went to bed. Now im sitting here with food poisoning. My night was horrible and i know it came from them because for the last week ive only been eating my same salad from home because i wanted my meal from there to be extra good. I dont think i will be returning which is unfortunate. But to Texas Road House i go from now on. As much as i go there, ive never had an issuer with customer service or my MEDIUM steak!. Yall need to step it up. Heres a pic of the steak. This is not Medium. This is raw in the middle. My husband is an executive chef for a 5 star restaurant....

I brought my girlfriend here for dinner last night. We had reservations, but still waited 30 minutes before being seated. The restaurant was very busy so we understood the wait, especially since my girlfriend works in the restaurant industry

I ordered the filet medium rare and she the veggie burger. She is vegetarian and has raved about the veggie burger here in the past. Since I am an avid steak eater I thought this was a great choice for a Valentine’s Day dinner.

Overall the dining experience was okay, but not really what I expected from a higher end restaurant. Our bill was $131 with a nice bottle of wine which was the best part of the meal for me.

I ordered the filet medium rare, but it came out medium. It was still a decent steak, but not what I expected for a $39 steak, and not nearly the steak you can get at Ruth’s Chris for only $10 more! My girlfriend enjoyed her veggie burger and had no complaints with her meal.

Our waitress was pleasant, but we both thought she could have been just a bit more attentive. Normally I would tip 20-25%, but I lowered that to 15% due to what I felt was less than stellar service.

The worst part of the evening, and the reason I feel compelled to write a review (something I do not usually do) was when the hostess was preparing a 6 person table adjacent to our booth. As she was setting the table she dropped the menus on the ground and they all scattered on the floor. She immediately picked them up and proceeded to place them on the table directly on top of the silverware wraps! I don’t think I need to point out the sanitary concerns here, and if we had not already finished our meal I would not have continued eating after witnessing that.

Overall I would give the experience 2 stars and we will not be dining here again, nor would I recommend J....
