My sister booked a candlemaking experience for her and I at Soapy Roads. It was my first visit to this quaint little gift shop. Kayleigh walked us through the experience, helped us pick out scents and instructed us on making our candles. She was so friendly and helpful. I had a great time smelling all the scents and coming up with a combination for my candle. It was a fun experience. You also are able to name your candle and they label it for you. Just know you have to wait a couple days for the candle to cure before being able to take it home. I also bought a framed picture while I was there for my home. If you don’t want to make a candle, there are plenty of gifts you can buy in the shop. I went back a week later and bought five bars of soap. The owner, Brooke, was there to help me choose the fragrance of soap as gifts for friends. I’m looking forward to going back and maybe making my own soap or fragrance to wear and definitely another candle. Brooke told me that next year they’ll be adding sugar scrubs so I can’t wait to go back and make my own...

I hosted my bachelorette party at The Makery Bar, and it was absolutely magical. From the moment we arrived, Brooke (the owner) had clearly thought through every detail to make the day feel special and personal. We made candles, and the whole setup was cozy, stylish, and welcoming. We loved the creativity of picking out scents and custom naming the candles. The space fit our group of 10 comfortably, and the vibe was relaxed yet festive. We enjoyed having access to their bar, which offered both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options -something for everyone! Brooke’s warmth and attention to detail made the whole experience feel effortless and joyful. If you're looking for a unique, intimate spot to celebrate with friends, I can't recommend The Makery Bar enough. It was the perfect blend of creativity, comfort, and...

I have struggled with awful eczema for years, and most recently concentrated in my hands. After trying literally every medication/cream/ointment/sensitive skin option out there, i decided to see what Soapy Roads had to offer for sensitive skin. I tried their Pine Tar soap, which they recommended as “skin calming” and great for eczema. After a couple days i noticed some changes, and after two weeks my skin is DRASTICALLY healed. Photos here of my skin at one of its worst points and then today after 3 weeks of using my new soap! I can’t believe the difference and i am so eternally grateful to have found something that finally works and isn’t full of awful chemicals! Thank you thank...

Soapy Roads of Lombard is all heart! Brooke & Joe are the kind, friendly, eco-conscious type of small business owners that you go back to again and again, not just for their soaps, classes & handmade tchotchkes, but because you can feel how much they care about people. My household soap is from Soapy Roads. I worked at a library where I hired them to do classes/workshops for both tweens & adults. But my absolute gushing love for Brooke comes from the recent summer camp I ran for low vision kids where they made gem soaps. She was so patient & took the time to make each kid feel special. Visit their shop, take a class, & experience the joy that is Soapy Roads!
