I'm really torn on this place. (See update 2, I don't recommend this business anymore)
They have great beer. The food looks fantastic (I haven't tried it yet) and they've got a great lineup of pinball. These are all things that would get me to return again and again. Except for one thing....
This place is family friendly. Normally, this is totally fine with me but on my visit, I was surrounded by 9 children under the age of 5. That was just the kids on the half of the bar I was on. I didn't tally up the kids on the other side. I felt out numbered and like I was at a daycare with kids running between their tables and the pinball games. Why are there so many unattended kids at a brewery?? Did I accidentally walk into a buffalo wild wings?
I visited on a Sunday and perhaps that was my mistake. I plan on coming back to try the food, but I'll swing by during the week.
Update: I came back and visited on a Wednesday afternoon and had the place to myself. Ordered the pretzel and found it to be massive and delicious, the beer is still fabulous. The weekday vibe is very different than the weekend.
Update 2: ok, I've been by on four separate occasions now. The first visit, items from another table's order ended up on my bill. I caught it and it was corrected. No big deal. Errors happen, right? On my most recent visit, there was another billing error and I didn't catch it until I was at home. The server reviewed the bill - you got the beers and an order of tots. Beers and tots, check. I was presented with the total and thought it was high but paid it. Got home and looked at the itemized receipt that was texted to me. They added two additional beers (of the same kind that I ordered) to my bill. I thought something was weird with the bill and I didn't ask questions, so I guess that's on me. Something with their point of sale system is off, or the staff is dishonest. Having extra items on my bill 2 out of 4 visits is concerning. I sent an email to the business to inform them of this incident and got no response back. Beware when you pay your bill and be on the lookout for things you...
Read moreWe hop around Northern Illinois on Friday nights trying out different breweries most weeks, and I've never felt compelled to write a review until now. We drink these beers canned from the store but never straight from the tap, so finally got around to stopping in here. Delicious as expected, but absolutely floored by the staff and service. Every single one of them more friendly than the next. Every. Single. One. I could type a book here about all the different interactions...one server suggested the Sunday brunch and how they roll out "can't miss" breakfast pizzas or how another simply asked me if we needed help while I was waiting for a different one to get the "to go" beer from the back because the up front cooler was out of stock. It was insane how nice these people were, totally going out of their way to be accommodating. Honestly never seen anything like that. How could every last one be so damn nice?!?! Thank you to the staff and management for fostering such a great culture!!! We live an hour away but will go here more often just to be treated so well. It really was that good people, go there and I bet you walk away saying the same, it wasn't a fluke or just catching all 12 of em on...
Read moreGreat craft beer bar. They have only been open for a few years now but they know their stuff and are quite popular locally. They have plenty of parking. They don't serve food but have plenty of restraunts nearby and get a food truck almoat every Friday. They have a decent amount of seating though it fills up on busy nights. It has a very modern atmosphere with a lot of wood, exposed metal, and the brew system right up front. The staff is always friendly and will help you pick out or sample beer. They change out their beer every so often but have a couple sets of core beer that they do really well. They have a constant rotation of their New England IPAs (known as the gummies) which are a lot more fruity and floral than regular IPAs (and so they are a lot more palatable to someone like me who does not like IPAs). They have a constant rotation of sours berlinerweiss beer (the smacks) that are also quite good and I always recommend. Lastly, their stouts (the bernies) are a solid choice for regular and occasional beer drinkers. I especially recommend the...
