February 9, 2019 We were graciously invited back by management and despite my apprehension and my declaration to ”never go back,”’ we accepted. First, let me say that my posts are anonymous. Second, It was resturant week, the place was packed, the staff was stretched to the limit but they sure did deliver.
The service was top notch again, thank you Will for a wonderful experience, and the food was amazing.
My wife, son and I had the dry aged Strip, it was delicious and flavorful, as a prime dry aged should, and it was perfectly cooked. My daughter had the filet, it was delicious, juicy and cooked as ordered, it looked so good I snuck a bit or 3 of her plate. The drinks and deserts were simply awesome.
I want to thank the management and staff for turning a previously bad experience to a new great experience, one that we look forward to repeating.
December 16, 2018 I have to start by saying that our server Will was exceptionally good at his job. Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and aware. He is the only reason I didn’t give the place a one star. It’s been about 10 years since I’ve been here last, I wasn’t impressed with the food back then and this last visit was worse than I remember it from way back then.
I ordered the Porterhouse, it was gray with no sear on it and way over cooked, very unappetizing and bad tasting. Our server noticed it without me saying anything and offered to bring me a new one but I declined. My wife and daughter ordered the Filet, one order was overcooked and the other undercooked. A vey bad food experience from start to finish.
The drinks recommendations by Will were spot on and the highlight of the night. The deserts were very good as well, creme brulee for my wife and daughter, fresh barriers and espresso for me.
Will, the professional that he is, credited my steak and gave us the desert on the house. Thanks Will.
My advise, skip dinner and go straight to the cocktails and desert.
Will never...
Read moreMy partner and I had reservations on Valentines but due to the bad weather we were a little late. We called ahead and they were accommodating and kept our reservation. Valet and coat room/front desk attendants were pleasant. It was very busy but our waiters were very attentive! They provided a complimentary rose which is such a lovely touch for the occasion. 10/10 service.
For appetizer’s we got the “Lobster and Crab Cake with Lemon Basil Aioli”. The crab cake was standard but there were larger chunks of lobster which I enjoyed. Light flavoring in the cake itself, but the aioli made the dish. The basil was prominent but not overwhelming, overall 7.5/10.
I got a side of truffle fries, nothing innovate or crazy. Pretty standard, 7/10.
For our main course we both got chef recommendations. I received the “ Sliced Filet Mignon* with Cipollini Onions, Wild Mushrooms and Fig Essence” which I’ve pictured below. My filet mignon was cooked to PERFECTION (medium rare). It was hands down one of the best filet mignon’s I’ve had in a while. The meat was lightly seasoned and the fig essence didn’t overpower it, in fact they paired lovely. The mushrooms and onions were also coated in the fig essence. I didn’t care much for them but they were okay, the dish as a whole is a 9/10.
My partner ordered the “Seared Tenderloin* with Butter Poached Lobster Tails” which is visible in the first photo. I can’t go into much detail on behalf of my partner but from what I tasted his tenderloin was cooked to his liking and the lobster tail was soft. Our only “complaint” was the overwhelming amount of butter, and the whole dish tasted like butter, 6.5/10.
The ambience made for a romantic date, the lighting was dim and the music was 1950’s classic pop/light jazz. All in all it was a lovely evening. I’ll definitely be revisiting but on a more casual note. The restaurant was packed and the food took a little long but that was expected since it was...
Read moreI attended The Capital Grille in a party of 5. I was a bit worried that I wasn't going to find anything on the menu that I'd like, because I am not a fan of seafood, red meat, or eating thick pieces of meat like chicken. When I looked at the menu, besides the soup and salad, there weren't many options that would fit my food preferences. I ended up going with the chicken with mushrooms and risotto. The waitress was very kind in letting our party know that we can get the food without mushroom pieces. However, the broth does have mushroom in it. I was fine with that. I dislike the idea of mushroom pieces in my meal. I went with the chicken because one of the party members said if I were to try a chicken anywhere, it would be there. So I did. I decided to give it a try, although I was hesitant. It came out well presented, with two small pieces of chicken breast, on a layer of risotto and broth. It was honestly unexpectedly delicious. The flavors of the chicken was juicy and savory. The risotto on its own is a bit salty but with the chicken it was wonderful. I also had some of the truffled fries which were yummy and the au gratin potatoes, which were also very flavorful. My party thought the waitress wasn't very happy with my table because she didn't seem very happy when attending us. But I didn't notice, I thought she was very nice. She was very good at refilling my drink before I even asked (but my drink was getting low), and she gave me a plate without asking to set any appetizers the party was sharing. I didn't want to put any appetizers on my plate in fear of it mixing with the broth and getting soggy.
I'm eating my leftovers now, and the chicken is still very juicy. The food is still...
