Visiting the Queen Mary was a pleasant experience. I can understanding appreciate that the entry fee of $40 per person and the higher prices on drinks help support the maintenance of this beautiful historic ship. While the cocktails were a bit on the sugary side and not particularly impressive, my husband and I enjoyed the opportunity to explore the ship at our own pace on a self-guided tour before visiting the Observation Bar.
As an older vessel, the Queen Mary has its unique charm, but it does come with some signs of age. Despite that, we had a lovely time taking in the sights. I noticed there were plenty of staff around, but it would have been nice if they had engaged more with guests. For instance, my husband received attention while ordering drinks, but I didn’t encounter any staff who greeted me.
There were a few tables that seemed to need cleaning up after Happy Hour, but it wasn't too much of an issue. We appreciated the chance to watch the sunset from the deck and soak in the atmosphere of this historic location. Overall, it was a pleasant visit, and we left with some...
Read morewent here to get drinks on a thursday night. looked it up on yelp and saw some of the pictures, but when i actually got there it wasnt as great as it looked. for starters, getting to observation bar is a bit of a hassle if youve never been before and you are going for the first time at night. its actually in the queen mary ship, so you have to navigate streets/freeway off ramps with multiple forks coming down the 710S to get to the queen mary. i was using apple maps so that probably didnt help. when you finally get there, there is parking very close to the ship, but it costs $15. theres validation at the bar so make sure you validate (i forgot to...). once you get to the queen marry, you have to pay another $15 to get onto the ship. you are allowed to use the $15 towards your meal/drinks though. once you go up the elevator, its on your left past a few glass windows. the bar is a bit small and the decor looks a bit cheap. i dont know if it was the lighting or something else, but it wasnt as genuinely art deco as it...
Read moreA friend and I decided to check out the Observation Bar since the ship reopened recently. She has not lost her charm! Ship is as beautiful as ever...yes she needs some work, but the history! The bar was gorgeous!! Such a classy spot! It was $10 bucks to get on the ship, per person..$10 for parking. I wasn't upset about that because my hope is that it helps to restore the ship. They offer small bites...the food was great. My friend had the sliders...I had the pretzel. 😋 More importantly...the drinks. Guys (a term I use for everyone) when I tell you that these drinks were so damn good...there isn't a word that's going to rightfully describe these drinks! My friend and I each had a Weekend at the Waldorf and a Missionarys Downfall. I think the downfall was my favorite but they were both just sooooo good! Service was also amazing and they checked on us the perfect amount of times....
