Friendly welcome. Crew members helped me with check-in and lent me borrow charger for my phone. They were very helpful and efficient. Unfortunately, the quality and variety of the food was inconsistent. Even the display and presentation of the food was horrendous, sad, and poor. Only one type of bread, three types of salad, two side dishes, one first course, one corn soup, three second courses, and four types of miniature desserts. Only prosecco was included; an open bar was not included. The young and inexperienced DJ did his best, however! The waitress was very nice; she demonstrated skill and attention, and gave her best! The atmosphere was flat and boring. A beautiful view at the beginning, and I was expecting a trip in the middle of the ocean. I was expecting a wonderful view, eager to see the sunset. Instead, it was a trip around the shipyards with a view of ships, naval transport, men working, machines, the highway, and the bridge. While I was eating I was watching a port for ships and cargo vessels. It was a huge disappointment. Then, a moment of rest at Queen Mary, where the sunset could be glimpsed behind the ships. It was already dark. Finally, a magical moment when I was captured by a wonderful yellow giant moon. I've never seen such a large and wonderful moon. Then, the return was at 9:30 PM. On time. Absolutely don't waste your time and...
Read moreI was on this dinner cruise New Year’s Eve 2023 and staff greeted me and my significant other with courtesy and a smile. After being given champagne and seated at a window while other guest were seated, my server came over and introduced herself. I’m a first timer with Hornblower and I guess I expected too much or was it? First off I want to say, all the servers were great and the food was good. But what I had a problem with was the DJ was stuck with his music catalog in the 60’s/70’s. Not one dance song was played that was current or even past the 90’s genre. I was talking to another guest who advised me that they made request but they were ignored. Come on city cruises, its a New Years Eve party not a geriatric party with somebody turning 80 years old. Myself and a few other couples were giving the DJ the benefit of the doubt that he would change the era of music he was playing, but it never happened. I guess in order to hear the music some guest wanted to dance to, you had to slip the DJ a little $$ on the side as what I saw. Paid a lot of money for this special night only to sit on the sidelines to music that was not dance music or something I could not dance too. The cruise was nice, but the DJ messed the whole vibe up for the night. First impression is the last impression. I surely will not be doing this again at least not with...
Read moreI booked this cruise on June 30 for my birthday. I purchased two tickets and one friend booked the day of the cruise it was really hard to find the port. The location provided was not accurate and we ended up walking a lot more than we expected.it did not help that it was hot and we were dressed if that was not enough up. I wish the location was more accurate and that someone was available to help the day of. The food options sounded promising but even that was dissapointing. The two Tickets I purchased did not have food restrictions. The one thing 1 was looking for was the prime rib. Well that was ruined. The meat smelled bad and tasted even worse . I had to spit out. There was also some confusion with drinks and I ended up with a bill. Overall we got drunk and starving by the end. Eat or pack your snacks prior to boarding or lock in a...
