Shoreline Marina is conveniently located near downtown Long Beach and easily accessible to major freeways. There are several highly rated restaurants within walking distance. There is a boardwalk and bike path that goes around the marina with great views.
The area is open to the public during most days. There is ample parking most weekdays and weekends. Public parking is available at metered slots or in the pay-lot.
Boat owners have parking passes and access to some restricted lots. Boat owners can ask for guest passes from the marina office. They will normally allow an owner to request several passes at once and will issue passes for multiple consecutive days. Check with the office for restrictions during special events.
Access is restricted and parking is limited during major festivals and special events like the Long Beach Grand Prix. Boat owners can still enter through an alternative roadway but guest passes are restricted during some events and no guest parking passes are available during other events.
Access to the docks (known as "gangways") is restricted to boat owners and their guests only and each gangway is locked. Entry to each dockrequires a special key fob that is programmed to identify who opened the gate and what time. Although the key fob will open the gate at any time of day, the rules of the the Long Beach Shoreline Marina dictate that visitors are restricted between sunset and sunrise.
There are some public restrooms, but some restrooms are restricted to boat owners only and require a key fob for entry. The owners restroom areas have showers and there are a few coin operated washer and dryer machines which are mostly used by people who live on the boats in the marina. Live aboard residents are also able to get a physical mailbox and mailing address...
Read moreHad a boat here for 11 years. Gated and locked docks. Good power and water. Good staff and security. Gas dock, pump out station and plenty of restaurants. Queen Mary, Island Grissom and great sunsets. Summer activities are a blessing and a curse, with marathons, festivals and the Long Beach Grand Prix. Gated parking with plenty of space and always boat owner parking available. Even the stoplight on the turn lane into the marina is synchronized to stop all other traffic and let you go first. Unlike Alamitos Bay, you are three minutes from open water and wide open throttles or sails and a protected but unrestricted outer harbor. There are some homeless others around at night but the marina is heavily patrolled and the gates keep any bad actors off the docks and away from cars. Locked restrooms and showers, some with laundry facilities and book exchanges are well kept and generally clean. A Long Beach Life Guard boat is stationed in this small harbor and both they and Marine Patrol make frequent patrols and are quickly available should the need arise. Pretty, safe and with plenty to do, Long Beach Downtown Marina is a great place to...
