Update: We keep coming back ❤️ We’ve gotten the beef soup several times and it always hits just right. Today I was feeling under the weather and decided to try the chicken curry with a baguette. It was perfectly spiced and comforting, and it felt like something a mom or grandma would bring you when you’re sick. It actually cheered me up so much. Thanks Pickle
We did dine in and ordered two banh mi (lemongrass beef with egg added, grilled pork/bbq pork), pork belly spring rolls, Thai milk tea and Vietnamese coffee.
Service: Our drinks were up immediately, sandwiches were ready in less than five minutes and the spring rolls came just a few minutes later so we barely waited at all.
Sandwiches: The banh mi were incredible. The bread was super fresh, no dry or stale bites anywhere. It perfectly absorbed the sauces from the meat, which was so flavorful and warm like it just came out of the pan. The veggies and herbs were cold and crisp. I liked how generous they were with the pickled veg and big sprigs of cilantro. The quality of the meat seemed good, a little fatty but not too much (and that can be a taste preference).
Rolls: The pork belly spring rolls were amazing. So glad my friend recommended we try these. One order is three big rolls and a huge side of peanut sauce - you could probably get the rolls as a meal if you wanted. The pork belly was amazing, tender and melty with a crunchy sear on top. They have a few pork belly dishes here that I want to come back and try now. The ratio of pork, noodles, veggies and herbs was just right, and the peanut sauce was a great texture for dipping without being too thick. Probably the best spring rolls I’ve ever had.
Overall: We got two sandwiches, three big spring rolls, two drinks, and added a 20% tip for under $50. We even had enough food to bring leftovers home. The food was phenomenal, and my only complaint for the entire experience was that the Thai tea could’ve been a little stronger, but that’s no big deal.
FYI, a guy sitting next to us had the Vietnamese beef stew and said it was his third time coming back for it. He told us it reminded him of his best friend’s mom’s cooking when he was growing up, except even better. So we’ll be back for...
Read moreLast Saturday my wife and I went to a cycle apparel warehouse sale. We were early and saw Pickle Bahn Mi across the street. Starving we were excited they were open.
The place looks really nice, and maintained very well. The owner (I think) Sean (spelling?) greeted us very warmly. He gave us his recommendations and said even though they are known for their Bahn mis they're rice plates we're just as good. So I got the braised pork belly over rice, and my wife got the roasted pork belly over rice. Again, starving it wasn't hard to convince us to buy the steamed buns: bbq pork and the "OG" buns. Of course to wash it down with some Vietnamese Coffee and Condensed Milk 😁
Now, I'm not a good critic and go into detail how everything tasted, but I can definitely say the food was VERY GOOD! It was so good that my wife and I kept switching plates back and forth 😅
The food is not even the best part. The customer service was above and beyond. We miss service like this. We feel a lot of businesses in general lack great, personal customer service. Sean and the rest of the staff had such great energy and attitude. Always made sure we were ok. And this was still early in the morning. We were also impressed by the flow of people coming in and out. We knew that this place was a staple on the area. Unfortunately, my wife and I live in the Valley so it's not convenient.....however for the food and service we will make an excuse to go back 🙌🏽. Thank you for a great experience. Please open one in...
Read moreI’ve been here once before for the crispy pork belly banh mi. I liked it, but wasn’t a fan of that creamy sauce in it. I like my banh mi dry… no sauce or soggy bread (that’s my pet peeve). This time I tried the grilled pork banh mi, nem and banh bao and their Vietnamese milk coffee. A few things about other reviewers commenting- I agree the pickled veggies could be more pickled but this didn’t bother me. Also, the Vietnamese coffee isn’t the traditional kind but it’s because it’s a “milk tea”. This was fine with me- obviously more mild than Lee’s or Da Vien so if you’re looking for that crack feeling you should get it there LOL.
You get a lot of bang for your buck here. The banh mi is made fresh and it shows. It’s perfect. I feel like all their food/ingredients taste fresh… which is refreshing compared to other places. I also appreciate their variety of food and drinks. You can get your Vietnamese food fix without having to go to a hole in the wall or restaurant- it’s quick easy and delish! The area specifically, I didn’t find any problems with it. Some mentioned it being in a not so nice area… my only complaint would be that I wish it had a drive thru… for convenience. I’ll definitely be back! It won’t be my last time here. Next on my list is to try their banh mi Dac biet and maybe another dish- and their...
