We had dinner reservations last night at A on PCH.
Our party of 7 was celebrating multiple family birthdays. I was given the task of selecting a restaurant for this family dinner. Nobody in our group had ever been to A on PCH, so we were excited to give it a try!
We were seated within minutes and the restaurant is very pretty and has a great vibe! Unfortunately, the experience took a turn for the worse after that...Nobody came to our table to greet us or take our drink orders for 20 minutes!
Finally, a server walked past our table and asked if we had been helped yet. After such a long wait, we were eager to order drinks and appetizers. Our oysters arrive about 5 minutes later, however, we were left staring at each other without touching the oysters, because nobody wanted to start eating without our drinks, which took another 10-15 minutes. The remaining appetizers came out sporadically without any skillful timing. They all tasted okay, but were not at all rave-worthy.
After the appetizers were removed, we were ready to order another round of cocktails, but there were no servers to be found. We tried to order drinks from the busser who removed our empty plates, but he told us that he wasn't the server. Our server was always extremely friendly , but the odds were stacked against him as the restaurant seemed to be grossly understaffed.
When our entrees arrived, we quickly placed another order for cocktails and a bottle of Stags Leap. These drinks also took about 10 minutes to arrive. The entrees were all perfectly acceptable, but the level of food did not meet the expectations set by the beauty of the restaurant nor the prices on the menu...we left feeling completely disappointed and underwhelmed.
Without drastic intervention, I fear that this location may be...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and it was truly a memorable experience from start to finish. The ambiance struck the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable, with a warm, inviting atmosphere that made the evening feel special. From the moment we were seated, the attentive and friendly service elevated the night.
The food was nothing short of amazing. I started with the oysters, which were impeccably fresh and beautifully presented. Each one was briny and clean, the perfect start to the meal. The Lobster Cobb Salad was a standout—a colorful and hearty plate packed with flavor. From the creamy avocado and perfectly cooked eggs to the tender lobster, every bite was a combination of fresh ingredients and satisfying textures.
We also indulged in a comforting grilled cheese paired with tomato soup. The soup was rich and velvety, and the grilled cheese had that perfect crisp-to-melt ratio—simple, classic, and executed perfectly.
The drinks were equally impressive. Thoughtful cocktails and a well-curated drink menu made it easy to enjoy the evening. One highlight was a whiskey served over a branded ice cube, which added a fun and polished touch to the presentation.
To top off the night, dessert was both elegant and delicious. A small bowl of creamy vanilla ice cream topped with fresh berries arrived with a lit birthday candle, making the experience feel personal and celebratory. The plate even had a chocolate “Happy Birthday” message, showing the extra attention to detail.
Overall, this restaurant delivered on all fronts—flavor, presentation, atmosphere, and hospitality. Whether you’re looking for a spot to celebrate a special occasion or just enjoy a fantastic meal, this place is...
Read moreA PCH in Long Beach delivers every single time—from the fresh, flavorful food to the effortlessly fun vibe that makes it one of my favorite spots in Long Beach.
We had the halibut tacos (light, crisp, and bursting with flavor), the spicy pizza (bold, thin-crust perfection), and the chopped salad with added salmon. That salmon was flawlessly flaky, buttery, and so well-seasoned—it made the salad feel indulgent in the best way.
And the whipped feta with warm pita? Unreal. The feta is silky smooth, topped with sweet roasted tomatoes, fresh basil, and a sprinkle of what tastes like crushed berries—giving it a tangy-sweet contrast that’s totally addictive. The pita is warm, soft, and light—not drenched in butter, just the perfect clean pairing.
Service was another level. Delia was incredible—warm, attentive, and remembered the little details like how I prefer my capers not crispy. That kind of thoughtful, personal service is rare and makes all the difference.
And shoutout to Travis at the front—so welcoming from the second we walked in. He made spot-on dessert recs. The entire experience was seamless, flavorful, and full of heart. A PCH is a Long Beach specialty...
