Heard this place was now open at the new location and also serving breakfast. Couldn’t find a breakfast menu on the website or socials so decided to risk it. I’m glad I did. This place is immaculate inside from the bar to the kitchen, even down to the bathrooms. The breakfast menu was double sided with plenty of options.
The Breakfast Platillos is more then enough food and reasonably priced (they could of charged a little more but with the insane cost of rent out here I really appreciate that). I got the Chorizo Plate with chile curtido. It came with 3 eggs scrambled with IN HOUSE ground chorizo, a small crispy mixed cheese quesadilla, refried black beans, a scoop of fresh guacamole, two flour tortillas, and the chile curtido (which was what I know as escabeche - next time I’d go with the cascabella peppers).
Everything was delicious! My partner got the Tamale Benedict, really good spiced in house made pork tamale with perfect poached eggs.
The chef in charge of breakfast let us try out a french toast that will be worked into the breakfast desserts menu. It was crispy on the outside, not soggy, not too eggy, with the right amount of cinnamon and maple syrup - just perfect! Happy to finally have a good breakfast spot in Longmont since losing Crane Hollow Cafe & Good Eats Grill.
Our server was personable and friendly, and the lack of a menu online was due to the fact that they just started serving breakfast yesterday. They had just printed menus and were still working some things out - totally understandable. Therefore, the server was also still new to the menu of course, but the chef was very helpful to both her & us. If you’ve never worked in the food service industry, have very high expectations of service, are going to be rude and leave 1 star reviews based on anything in this paragraph, maybe wait to come here until after opening week. Me, I’ll definitely be back ASAP to try...
Read moreHonestly, this was surprisingly disappointing. So many people rave about this place and their food. I had been here about 5 years ago when they were at their last location and their food was very unimpressive. We never went back. They moved to this new location and i always saw it so full and figured they must have improved, especially seeing all these raving reviews. Well... That wasnt the case. They are so focused on the beauty of the place, and their fancy drinks theyve totally missed the mark on the food. My husband and I got the carne asada, he got the one with shrimp. The meat was not seasoned at all. And the green onion and jalapenos were not sauteed in oil, so were not as flavorful as they could've been. Both plates especially for the price we paid were absolutely disappointing. My children's plates, that were mind you $8, were the smallest servings ive ever seen, even for a childs portions. Its extremely over priced for the quality. It really confused me. The service was good. Food came out uncomfortably quick, especially for the amount of people they had in the restaurant. Their 20 inch burrito is hilarious lol the name sounds like itll be huge but not to worry, its so skinny my 6 year old couldve finished it. We didnt order it but the gentleman next to us did.
I hope the restaurant sees this and can make improvements. They make money, thats obvious. So please put in more effort into making your dishes more filling, flavorful, and appealing. Mexican food is such a easy cuisine if you know how to do it. Ill keep my business across the street...
Read moreMy family and I were excited to try this new restaurant. We waited about 30 minutes for a table and during that time we had frantic staff try and give us margaritas that we did not order. They couldn't seem to find the correct person who did order it. Once sat, we were placed at a table where the sun was directly in our eyes and they had no shades to draw on the window. Once asked, they moved us tables and we're very accommodating. A few minutes later, they asked to move us again once we had appetizers. They moved us inside to a table where people were sitting already so our food was in front of other people for a few minutes.
They replaced our food and beverages once we informed them of the mistake. Our first server was amazing and our second one was very confused and flustered.
The food is what you would expect from a tex mex americanized family restaurant. Not bad but nothing to write home about.
The service needs work but that is expected from a grand opening. We will be back!
The atmosphere is loud, chaotic, and energetic. Not a place for a romantic evening but a great place to get some food and get hammered...
