In case you don't want to sit through this long review, ill start with saying, "I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT!!!" This was the first time my boyfriend and I had ever been to a Saltgrass, and it was amazing. We went around 12:30 pm on a Saturday. Prices are pretty high for in this town, ranging from $15 to $25 a meal, though that's about normal for a steakhouse. I gotta tell you though, Neither I, nor my boyfriend, have never been to a restaurant that we were completely happy with the food and service relative to the price. We started out getting seated by our host, who was charming and friendly. Next we met out waiter, a older man named Chris, who was by far the best waiter or waitress I have ever had. He was friendly, attentive, was able to politely make suggestions without being pushy, and was constantly cracking little jokes. We started out with a Spinach & Artichoke dip with fresh salsa and chips, which was FANTASTIC! Prior to our meal, I had a simple garden salad and my boyfriend had a baked potato soup, both of which were excellent. But when out main meals arrived, we were blown away. My man had ordered the "Loredo Chicken", which was not only mouth-watering good, but the presentation was just lovely. The arrangement of cilantro, cheese, and other veggies made it look as appealing as it tasted. For my own plate, i ordered simple fried shrimp and French fries (oh, the weakness for fries), and what it lacked it visual appeal (lets face it, you can make fried foods only so pretty), it made up for with taste. It didn't taste the least bit greasy, and had a great batter for the shrimp, without oversalting like many restaurants are prone to. Our waiter, Chris, when suggesting a dessert, convinced us with joking about how good the cheesecake was, and we ended up concluding our meal with the "Two Fork Cheesecake", which was simply wonderful. Sweet without being overbearing, it was topped with fresh strawberries and had sweetened cream on the side. The kicker though, was while we were waiting on dessert, the manager came over to talk with us, and ask us about our visit. This may seem like nothing, but I honestly can't remember the last time I was a customer in a restaurant and the manager actually made rounds to speak with their customers. She was quite friendly, and seemed to be so with tbe other customers as well. I can honestly say that this was the best visit to a restaurant I've ever bad, and I whole - heartedly...
Read moreI’m sure it could be worse, just not sure how. Just moved to Longview and was looking forward to a good meal. Made a reservation but was asked to wait when we arrived (I guess so the wait staff and hostess could watch videos in their phone). Once seated we placed an order for drinks (sodas) and a couple appetizers. One drink eventually arrived with a glass of water (there were three of us) and a promise to bring one more drink. We clarified they were also missing the unsweet tea, which was confirmed. One more drink showed up minus the tea which we asked for again (now requested three times and confirmed each time). Then the appetizers showed up, still no tea. Three minutes later the salads showed up… we barely had time to take two bites of the appetizers. But not even the right salads which we explained and were told they would come back for the wrong salads (they left them sitting on our table). We get the right salads and finally get the tea and we’re told they would bring a refill for one of the drinks (never got that). While still eating the salads (this is minutes later) they bring one steak with no side which we explain is not correct (it was supposed to be with fries, which we were VERY clear about), so we send it back. Still eating our salads they bring all the steaks and now our table has zero room but they don’t offer to take any of the plates away. And of course now there’s two orders of fries and no baked potato as ordered. The food was ok but the waitress never shows her face again and we’re forced to ask another waitress for our bill, who eventually shows up and hurriedly drops it without a word. Didn’t check if we needed boxes for our leftovers, didn’t apologize for never bringing the soda refill, no explanation for disappearing for 30 minutes. I had to get up and ask for boxes. Waitress eventually comes over to get the credit card and then gives us a non-working pen, which again required getting up to request a working pen.
If this wasn’t such an amazing comedy of errors that allowed us to laugh at the whole fiasco, it could have been the worst meal ever.
I’m sure you can guess that we won’t be going back. Far too many other choices to waste any more of our money...
Read moreWent to Saltgrass for a birthday celebration. Started out rough. The waitress took forever to bring us the normal table setup. When we asked for refills, bread, tableware, etc.... it took her over 5 minutes to return. She wasn't in a hurry and definitely isn't interested in making money. I believe her name was Kindra. We got our salads. Everything was ok. Still didn't see our waitress at all but we were enjoying the company.
When our main entrees arrived, only half of them came out. We waited over 10 minutes for the waitress to come and say that the kitchen lost the order. She said they were preparing them immediately. 30 minutes passed and SOME of the entrees came out. Still missing a plate. If they were preparing everything immediately like they said, how is it that the food was cold? Nope, these plates were prepared with the rest.....just forgot on the service line. 10 more minutes passed and we finally got the remainder of our order. Its a shame I paid $25 for a steak that wasn't cooked thoroughly enough to eat. Can't send it back because I have to work in the morning and can't stay there all night. We had to repeatedly ask the waitress for items two and three times. I asked to see the manager before paying. The front manager was never seen. The kitchen manager came out and I discussed everything with him. I believe he said his name was Tyrone. He kept saying that the kitchen lost the order. If he was in charge of the kitchen, how did he let 6 plates leave service when the temperature was already too cold to serve. Health dept will hear about this as well. I guess he is covering for the waitress. The manager did discount the bill $50. I asked if there was going to be gratuity added. He said no. I paid the bill and left without giving any gratudity. No one was hospitable. I would expect this at lesser restaurants. Saltgrass has always been good. NOT THIS ONE! There is a Texas Roadhouse across the street. Try them instead. These people need to...
