There's no denying the allure of 22nd Street Landing Restaurant in San Pedro, a place blessed with magnificent views that can make any dining experience memorable. The picturesque location overlooking the harbor is the restaurant's crowning glory, offering a visual treat that few places can match.
However, having dined here recently, I must say that the restaurant seems to rely a bit too heavily on its prime location, while other aspects that contribute to a great dining experience have been somewhat overlooked.
The first thing that strikes you is the atmosphere, which is in desperate need of rejuvenation. The décor feels dated and lacks the contemporary charm that one would expect from a restaurant in such a prime location. It's not that it's unwelcoming, but it certainly doesn't inspire the excitement that the magnificent view does.
Additionally, the menu could use an overhaul. While the food isn't bad per se, it lacks the inventiveness and diversity that you'd expect from a restaurant in a town as vibrant as San Pedro. More contemporary dishes and innovative uses of local ingredients would definitely help to invigorate the somewhat stagnant menu. I don't believe the menu has changed much in the past 20 years.
The saving grace for 22nd Street Landing Restaurant, in addition to its stunning views, is the friendly staff. They are courteous and attentive, doing their best to make the dining experience pleasant, despite the shortcomings.
In its current state, I would give the 22nd Street Landing Restaurant a modest three stars. There's definitely potential here, given the location and the staff's efforts. However, a major revamp of the menu and a freshening up of the atmosphere is essential for it to truly stand out among San Pedro's...
Read moreFood was bland, average. Ambiance is definitely what you're paying for when you go to this location. Recently went with my boys to dinner. Both chose to have a cheeseburger and fries. 1 ordered off the regular menu the other off of the kids menu (hes 3) when the meals arrived one couldn't tell the difference between both as they were identical as far as burger size ,fries, portion, etc. the only difference was the "regular menu burger was $16 n the kids burger was $9. I had a pasta. initially came to the table w barely enough sauce to coat the angel hair not much more had to ask for additional. when I tasted it.....disappointed would be an understatement. What shouldve been Alfredo sauce was more like a thick warm milk "sauce" as far as consistency. flavor, appearance. HARDLY worth the $35 charge on check for this luke warm "noodles n milk" presentation. In all fairness I couldve shouldve just sent back the tasteless dish and opted for something else. Instead I opted against having to go thru the whole extent involved in having to complain, more time to choose something else, waiting, tension etc. I also think I was just happy to be able to go out with my boys once again after a long time dealing with the shut downs. I know restaurants are mostly barely on their feet or close to it. I just want quality without having to cause a commotion by complaining, coming across as "that" customer all dread. on a happier note. my kids liked their food, the fries were delicious (thick steak fries style) scenery beautiful, very good safe practice with no inside dining, tables kept with distance in between them, mask required with instructions or reminders...
Read moreI came here between 6-7pm to wait while my daughter was at a birthday party. Took an hour to get sat which was fine because I sat in the bar (after waiting about 15 mins for a seat in the bar area) and ordered wine and calamari. The calamari and service is phenomenal so I’m still giving two stars. I was wondering what was taking me so long to get sat(had been over an hour but I did request to sit outside so I assumed that was the reason). I became a bit upset when I watched a couple that came 30 mins after me get sat outside before me. The hostess then sat me outside but on the opposite side of the restaurant and the views weren’t as nice there. After being sat outside I ordered something the server told me was popular which was three different seafoods in one, everything on that plate was incredibly bland. She also suggested a Cadillac margarita but it was kind of strong so I only drank about 1/4 of it, if that. The lobster bisque was pretty good, I ate about 3/4 of it. I spent over $100 between two drinks, an appetizer and an entree, plus 20% tip. I would have rated this a three out of five but I was woke up at 1am very sick and vomiting. I’m still feeling the affects of the bad food this morning. For the amount of money I spent the cooks should make sure their guests don’t get food poisoning. I didn’t eat out anywhere else that day and it could have only come from here. I’m still giving 2/5 instead of a one because the people who work here...
