Azao sushi — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Very nice workers but this ruined my night. I’ve ordered from here twice. The first time I ordered ramen in store, and shrimp was on my soup- I hate shrimp, and would never have ordered it with shrimp. There was a photo of the soup on the menu and it had no shrimp, and also didn’t list shrimp on the ingredients list- only stating broth and noodles. I told them in store I didn’t order any shrimp and they went to the back and scraped it off the top before coming back seconds later, little bits of shrimp meat floating around in my soup (I didn’t complain or say anything at the time, assuming the shrimp being in the soup was an honest mistake). I just ordered from there again, (once again the online photos show no shrimp and don’t list it as a product ingredient- so I assumed that one time was a mistake). It just arrived and the shrimp was there again, and after removing it myself, I am seeing how the shrimp was marinating in my noodles, and meat chunks are floating around in the soup, regardless of me spending ten minutes dissecting it. The ramen is so expensive for them to lie to you about ingredients in the ingredient list, and the photos. The workers all seemed nice though and that’s why I’m giving it a two stars. Azao Sushi delivered on quality across the board. I ordered the 6-piece sashimi, miso soup, Heart Attack appetizer, and fried shrimp shumai—and everything hit exactly the way it should. The sashimi was fresh and generously cut, the miso soup was simple and comforting, and the Heart Attack (fried jalapeños stuffed with spicy tuna) was crispy, rich, and had just the right amount of heat. The fried shrimp shumai was golden, crunchy, and packed with flavor.

It felt like a small, family-run spot that puts quality first. No frills or crowds—just solid food, quick service, and a team that clearly cares about what they serve. The experience felt personal in the best way.
