We were in the area to go to the Los Angeles History Museum. Their parking lot was closed due to capacity however, we saw a lot of available spaces and cars leaving. So. We had to park by the Coliseum. The fee was only $12.00 to park. It is quite a walk to the museum from this specific lot. This is disappointing because, we are members of the museum but, nobody has parking priority. The museum was very busy the day we visited. It was still a great time. We keep passes so we can meet my daughter and/or my sister in law, brother and niece. On this day one of my daughters, son in law, son, sister in law and her wonderful mother were with my husband and I. It is between the cities we live in and it gives us the opportunity to spend time together without any of us driving too far. On this day we visited the gem exhibit. It is vast with a lot of different gems and stones from all over the world. It is remarkable to see the way they form naturally. The exhibit also has a vault area with some amazing jewelry on display. In addition, there is a gift shop where you can purchase different stones and gems. We also went to the children's exhibit. They feature live animals throughout the week. On this day we were able to see an opossum up close. The staff will talk about the animal in detail and educate the visitors. This event is geared towards children but, adults love it as well. The exhibit also houses live rats in an enclosure where they can move around and climb overhead, as well as various examples of taxidermy. It is interactive and a terrific place to feed young minds. It has changed since my children were young. We've been going for years. My adult children visited the massive section of dinosaur exhibits. It can take hours to see everything in this area. We saw dozens of bird specimens in the Hall Of Birds. Of course, there is much more to see but, we focus on certain areas each visit. The food at the "restaurant" is okay. Not much seating. The gift shop is alright. The inventory doesn't change much but, we do get discounts on purchases with our passes. The restrooms are clean. This is one of my favorite...
Read moreCoolest experience out here. Not only could children have fun and learn something new, but also adults could recall classic amazing moments about space mission and real spaceship here. Rose Garden in the front of CA Science Center and Nature History Museum is huge and breeds variety of rose species, so astonishing. If you wanna rest under sunshine, here is wonderful spot to enjoy with friends. First, lots of aircrafts outside and inside to get know more about their details and history. On 2nd floor, many space capsules exhibited, including Apollo-Soyuz and Gemini 11. You could scrutinize and imagine how their mission went and what they've experienced, so thrilling. Besides, space equipment, satellites, telescopes, even Viking lander and an used space suit displayed around that area. Some cool facilities let you experience how astronauts flied spacecrafts. On the other corner, bunch of photos show the day when Endeavour arrived this science center. On the same floor, you could explore ecosystem and DNA exhibitions, they are all interesting and explain complex concept with easy way. In the building next to it, the real ENDEAVOUR is out right there!! Too large to fit in just one image and so many details. You could see serial number on every component and scratches on outer coverings. Several billboards around to let you learn more about this gigantic shuttle. Outside of this building showed the lightweight tank. This is not a site that you could finish up visiting all the stuff in just one day. Highly recommended everybody to pay a visit, especially families....
