For a first foray into Filipino food, I the food was pretty good.
Quick note on the service, there were only two other people at the restaurant, but it took 30 minutes to get the food and it wasn’t even hot, like mildly warm. I don’t know if this is because they have a lot of online orders but the wait was a bit long for not being crowded.
The Chicken Adobo was could have been more tender but it was fine. Flavor wise, it was like a watered down teriyaki sauce. There was no sauce actually coating the chicken, it was just in a shallow puddle at the bottom. A bit disappointing but still good.
The Beef Giniling was a big improvement. If you like Shepards pie, you’ll love this. It’s a hearty meal with carrots, peas, richly flavored beef with some raisins for sweetness. I was surrounded with how much I liked this.
Rice is rice but the Pancit Noodles are where it’s at. The noodles are so buttery and delicious. The veggies provide a snap for contrast and mixed with the beef; incredible bite.
What you HAVE TO get is the Lumpia Shanghai. These egg roll type sticks have a beautifully delicacy and flaky crust. The filling inside is flavored nicely and all of it pairs well with the sweet chili sauce.

Read moreAlabama native, LA local. I was introduced to Filipino food in Sacramento by my former partner and her family. I’ve been craving authentic dishes but didn’t know where to go- until today. I wanted pancit, lumpia and Halo Halo- enter Big Boi and B Sweet!
The self serve menu at the entrance of Big Boy was incredibly easy to navigate and order from. I received my text telling me my meal was ready right after receiving my Halo Halo and ube bread pudding from B Sweet, which is conveniently located a few doors down.
I ordered the big combo with pork sisig, longanisa and all pancit. I also ordered fried chicken with gravy and lumpia. Everything was umami and I don’t feel tired after sampling everything. It’s hard to pick my favorite, everything is very well seasoned and juicy. I’m very impressed with how fresh everything tasted and I look forward to discussing this experience with my Filipino coworkers who all told me I had to go to Carson to get good Filipino food.
Thank you for bringing me to a part of town I haven’t explored yet and for providing quality, affordable Filipino staples. I will...

Big Boi is the savory concept from the chef/owner of nearby B Sweets. They serve Filipino and Filipino fusion dishes, and on the weekend only, they add fried chicken to the menu.
I had the opportunity to travel in the Philippines a while ago and was pleased to see they enjoy their fried chicken with gravy, something that isn't normally seen in the US. It may seem like an odd combo, but I can assure you it is fantastic. I will warn folks that it can get quite messy, but I also admit I may not be savvy enough to eat the chicken and gravy without making a glorious mess.
The Big Boi fried chicken was succulent and packed with flavor. The crispy coating is chef's kiss level texture and flavor. My biggest problem was that I was so eager to dive in, I didn't let it cool down, and it was scalding hot and super fresh out of the fryer.
I'm intrigued by the rest of the menu, but I'm very grateful I gave the fried chicken a try. It was amazing.
