I am so excited that Eagle Rock has a quality italian, non-hipster restaurant!!! This place is definitely top notch - from the modern, industrial decor to the simple yet elegant cuisine. The restaurant has large open front windows which makes for a great breeze and a lovely view at sunset. We were lucky enough to have both tonight :) I loved the little touches throughout the place as well...tiled bar front, lantern and woven basket- like lamps, wooden beams....so beautiful. As far as food goes, the arugula salad is an absolute must! The garlic bread was great too and all our pasta had wonderful flavor as well. I realllyyy loved my gnochetti with sausage and my husband enjoyed the pasta with pomodoro sauce. We had also never had such great italian beer before! My only gripe is that the prices are qquuiiittteee steep for the portion size. The pasta dishes range around $12-17 and I guess are more akin to true European portion sizes...but for this gal, I was a little shocked. The dishes were SOOO smaaaalllll - I would have expected them to cost about $8 by look/size alone. Either way, the food is really worth trying...just be prepared to put a dent in your wallet.

Made last minute reservations for a large party on a Friday night. It was nice weather, so opted for a table on the patio. Arrived on time and the table was awaiting our party. Was immediately greeted and seated, then waiter came over to explain the menu. Started off with a few drinks and appetizers. The appetizers were the meatballs, calamari, and a salad. Everything arrived within 10 minutes and were good starters for the meal. For the meal, we ordered a wide variety of pasta dishes and seafood. All meals came out together after 15 minutes which timed well with our appetizers. Food was decent, but price was a little high for the quality. Atmosphere and service did make up for the high price point. Depending what you're looking for or expecting, then you may have a mixed experience. I was satisfied taking into account the overall experience of service, atmosphere, and the food.

Four stars for the food! I've enjoyed the Trout with Quinoa, it was nicely baked, tender but with a crispy bites, on a sweet side understandably because of the raisin yogurt sauce. This is a beautiful modern place. I will give 1 star for the service. When we mentioned we were new to the restaurant, our hostess/server did a poor job explaining the simple menu options with mumbling and was being very non-descriptive, especially when there weren't any descriptions in the first place. We tried making it obvious that we couldn't hear what she was saying multiple times, but to no avail. We've pretty much ordered what was familiar to us of what we could read out of the menu. It was a struggle enough to ask her to give us any kind of description. We shouldn't have tried asking for desert because of how she was. Instead we said, "None for us, check please ".

Good food, service and counter ordering not so much.

Don't tip when you order, you'll waste your money.

First off its a bit of an odd set up, you order everything at the counter then get a number and sit down. Not sure about the whole system I tipped a standard 20% then regretted it more and more throughout the night. As we walked to the counter to order the hostess/server was more focused on saying a very long goodbye across the restaurant to friends than helping us, then once they were gone she was very nice and helpful, but the talking over/through us was obnoxious to say the least.

We then grabbed some menus and sat down to figure out what we'd like, then went back to order.

Our food came out fairly quickly, but we were sitting at a table with no, cups, silverware or napkins. The people who brought the food didn't think anything was wrong, and it wasn't until I got up to get my own items that someone offered to help.

So after getting all my own settings I was finally able to eat.

The food was excellent, everything tasted great, but nobody else came by the table the whole night.

Long story short, I'd go again, enjoy the food, not leave a tip.

I've had better service...

Honest review:

This place is a hidden gem. If you’re looking for a typical American style overly salted pasta, Olive Garden is what you’re looking for. This place is about authentic Italian flavors and is the first pasta I’ve had here in LA that reminds me of pastas I had in Italy. Had the Calamari for an app, the gnochetti with mushrooms and breadcrumbs, the cavatelli with truffle oil and the tiramisu for $85 (water only for beverage). The cavatelli was exceptional; a dish with pecorino and truffle oil that was completely non reliant on salt, but rather a creamy truffle oil flavor. (When a dish doesn’t bank on salt for flavor, it allowed the oil and pasta itself to shine). Actually, a bite of half cavatelli and half the gnochetti was the perfect bite lol.

Best tiramisu I’ve ever had and will come back for that alone many times to have with espresso. I learned that the pastas are made in house every day fresh and that they don’t have a freezer, which blew my mind! Food was delicious and the staff and ambiance were delightful. One of my favorite spots I’ve...
