MÉXICO 🇲🇽 Eat the World LA review: After a lot of 2015 hype that admittedly came to the rest of us about three centuries after the neighbors, I was ecstatic to finally receive my dressed up elote. So much so in fact that I admired it and devoured it, and completely forgot to take a photo. Those were the days before Instagram (for me) and before living in Los Angeles, documenting each dish did not happen with such frequency. ° But being here on Workman Street and getting in line with everyone else was a joy. On that October night, late in the evening temperatures were still above 30 celsius as the city was experiencing a heat wave. But in the line it was complete joy, everyone full of excitement and not worried about the 30+ minute wait for their prize. ° The Corn Man, Timoteo Flor de Nopal, is now doing catering, so make sure to have him at your wedding or bar mitzvah. Elotes and esquites vendors are all over the place, but there is something special...

We went out and got corn last night! I didn't know this was a thing, but there is a man who sets up a little stall and sells street corn at night! Loaded with cheese and chili and lime if you so please. You can have it both on the cob and in a bowl, but I chose a bowl this time because I didn't want to make such a mess. He's there every single day from 11:15pm to 3 in the morning, but there was a line before he even arrived! We got there at about 11:10 and he was a little late so he wasn't finished setting up till about 11:35. There was already a line when we got there and it just kept getting bigger. So keep in mind that there will most likely be a wait. We ended up getting our corn at about 12:30, but he was very friendly and loaded up our bowls of corn. Well worth the wait! The dish was messy...

Corn Man is hands-down the most delicious corn I have ever had! Corn on the cob or in a cup is amazing! Always hot, great portions, servings and price. The only reason I gave him 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the way he runs his business. The lines are ridiculously long (1 hour + wait for more) and he does not put a 2nd person to serve. It's not convenient for the customers to have to endure those lines for corn! The other problem is that even though he has no overhead, and is making a killing nightly, he doesn't invest in 2 trashcans around the parking lot to keep the area clean. On any night that you go, you will find the parking lot full of trash from his customers strewn all over! That seems rude, inconsiderate and disrespectful to other businesses and residents of the area. ...

waited for about an hour on a thursday night (arrived around 11:30pm, got corn around 12:20am-ish). the line moves steadily, unless a group decides to buy like 18 cobs of corn... just fyi. anyway, you park in a pay-n-park lot, but it's after hours so don't pay. and you line up and get your corn from the corn man. options are on the cob or in the bowl. on the cob tastes better and completes the experience. it's messy but just floss when you get home and you'll be fine. it's $2.50 for a corn and it's covered in crema, cheese, chili powder, and butter. don't worry it's not too spicy. i can't do spicy and it made my nose run a little but i survived. i also got a bowl to go and they wrapped it nicely/put it in a baggie for me. the wait was sooo worth. YUM

We were exploring a bit of LA and came across Corn Man. It turned out to be one of the best places we visited throughout our entire trip. Even with a bit of a wait, it was more than worth it. It's got just the right balance of flavor and texture. The corn is tender but still has just a little crunch and the seasonings are perfect. The atmosphere is enjoyable and interactive there are groups of people having a great time in line, which proves to be a pretty quick moving line once the vendor arrives. What stood out for me was how much cheese is slathered on the Corn making every single bite remarkably satisfying. Now, if you are in LA, this is a must try. Sure, it gets late, but it's worth the drive and the wait. We can't wait to return for more!
