I finally decided to try Crazy Fish today. It seemed to be popular and I had heard and read great things about the place. So, after making a Starbucks run, I thought, "Why not pick up lunch here today?" I went in and noticed that the place was very clean and bright - inviting. That was definitely a plus. I already felt like this was the beginning of something good.
I was greeted by a friendly young woman. She told me the specials of the day, but I wanted to try a mainstay direct from their menu. So, I ordered a grilled fish taco plate AND the Fish and Chips.
I was a little taken aback by the price, but, I thought, if the food is that good, then the expensive should be worth it.
I ordered to go and it did not take very long to prepare my order. I brought my food back to work to dig in. First - the portions - large! Granted I was hungry, but I ate more than I should've! Hmmm. The jury's out on whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.
The Fish and Chips was fantastic - whatever breading they use is absolutely delicious and the fish itself was cooked perfectly. Not overcooked, not dry, not greasy - it was flaky and just divine! Well seasoned and everything! The chips, too, were great - now I don't know if they fry the chips with the breading or my chips just soaked up some of the flavor from the fish, but the chips were amazing! My only suggestion would be to maybe cut back on the chips portion a little bit. The portion of fish was just right.
My tacos tasted great (yes, I ate them, too! Hungry dude was hungry!), but, I found that the fish tasted a little unseasoned, or just lacked seasoning. It probably needed a pinch more salt. They give you salt packs to use at your discretion, but I prefer adding sea salt instead of the iodized stuff. As I stated earlier, the tacos tasted fine, but would have really popped if the fish had a little more seasoning.
My only disappointment was no tartar sauce for the fish. I didn't notice if there was a bar with condiments at it, so, if that is the case, the counter workers should make that apparent to a customer when they pick up their order, or just include a cup or two of tartar sauce with the order. I'm not a fan of ketchup on chips, so I didn't really care about that.
I'm stuffed and won't need dinner this evening. I am looking forward to patronizing this establishment again and hope that it remains a success...
Read moreThe name deterred me from eating here, then I had a friend suggest we meet for lunch and here we are!
I have been on the hunt for a solid Ceviche without driving to DTLA to my favorite spot, which is hard to beat because they use yellow tail. That being said I can drive locally to eat something I tend to have a hard time finding due to higher expectations.
The Fish Ceviche is yummy! I have enjoyed it approx 10 times and now feel I can provide an honest review of it.
The fish has always been Fresh, which is the most important thing to me. Along with it being fresh, it is consistently made the same way. It is very simple and tasty!
The Tortilla Chips that are excellent! They are thick, crunchy, and fresh as well! I often order extra chips when I order it to go, as they are the Perfect tortilla chip for me.
I enjoy their hot salsa, finding it at a balanced heat level for the ceviche and chips with out scorching my face off. I tend to like hotter-than-the-average heat, so I consider this to be a medium in heat.
The staff has been friendly, typically they are greeted by smiles from me. Typically I don't have any issues with staff.
I have had a couple of grilled shrimp and brussle sprouts off of a friend's plate, they were nicely prepared and cooked right. She frequents this spot with her husband and they both enjoy it here.
I am a fan - Thank...
Read moreTL;DR: Prioritizing online orders that came in instead of assisting a customer who was literally standing in front of you before said orders came in.
Ordered today, Monday 9/1/25 online via ChowNow for pickup. Two younger guys working the counter, one with a backwards cap and the other with curly hair. The curly haired one was helping a customer out while the backwards cap kept his back towards the counter from the time I walked in until he decided to prioritize the food delivery tablet and then said, "I'll be with you in one second" and never made the contact with me the entire time. How demeaning! He didn't tell the curly haired guy I was waiting to pickup and watched him do everything else aside from helping me so I sat down in annoyance. When I finally had enough of watching backwards cap enter multiple orders instead of acknowledging me, I walked up again to the counter after being ignored, said I'm here to pickup because backwards cap was ignoring me. Curly haired said what and repeated that backwards cap ignored helping me from the time I walked in. This is the second time Crazy Fish has had a bad hire, this the an employee prioritized orders that literally came in after I arrived and used saidorders to ignore me instead of quickly helping a customer who was standing in front of them. Make it...
