What a joke of a place!! Few of my girls wanted to go to hookah and I recommend this place because of the service and drinks. By the end of the night I was so embarrassed. I ordered tea and got warm water without a tea bag. So I was very polite asked to just order a drink instead. They couldn’t get my drink right nor my friends drinks. It was so terrible that we couldn’t drink them. We asked the waitress to change the drink and had explained that we have came here before and this is not how the drinks were. She took the drink back and brought me the same drink saying she changed it when I asked for a complete different drink! The waitress took the drinks back to the owner and he began to stare us down the entire time we were there. We felt so uncomfortable! Before coming we called to make sure the outside seating was going to be covered and made reservations because it was raining. He assured us that he will take care of the outside patio so we can be seated. The owner did not even know how to manage the four tables once it began to rain. At first he said he didn’t have a cover, we asked if he can just used the umbrellas to cover our table. He just panicked and brought the umbrellas while he knocked down the heaters that was in his way. The owner was drunk and couldn’t even function normally. After we settled and asked for fries and another round of drinks, they brought cold fries and another really nasty drinks! At this point it was getting really ridiculous. My cousin decided to walk in to the bar and ask to see if she can get a different drink. The waitress was rude and the owner didn’t even acknowledged how bad the drinks and service was. He argued with us while he was sitting and having his dinner saying we chose the drinks so we needed to drink it!! I was so shocked!!! We just asked for the bill to leave. There was four of us and asked the waitress to split the bill in four. What a mistake. I guess they couldn’t even do that! They charged two of us the full amount of the bill and came back saying sorry the new waitress didn’t know how to split the bill. They gave my friend her voided copy and didn’t tell me that I would be charged twice! They didn’t even void my bill that they messed up on. I got charged the full amount and the split amount. I would not recommend nor go back to this...
Read moreTerrible service! Went here on Valentine’s Day with my partner. We had a reservation at 9, showed up right on time. Right away we felt like the entire staff was looking at us and judging us. They sat us down and handed us two menus, the regular one and one specifically for Valentine’s Day. The hostess explicitly told us we could order from either one. Then 30 minutes (not an exaggeration, I literally kept track) passed and no one approached us at all. Not even to give us water. They wouldn’t even look in our direction. Meanwhile, all of the couples around us that had arrived after us were getting served right away. I don’t think they ever would have come up to our table if I hadn’t literally waved them down to ask them to take our drink orders. The place wasn’t busy at all. The waiter comes up and doesn’t even apologize for or acknowledge the fact that we’ve been waiting more than half an hour to even order drinks. Then we try to order food from the regular menu but he tells us that we actually can only order from the Valentine’s Day menu which is $75 per person. Literally no one told us this. Not the hostess, not the person on the phone when I made the reservations, no one. So we decided to leave because I was already fed up and didn’t want to pay them $75 per person for their terrible service. The waiter was quick to rush us out the door without an apology at all. I felt like this was intentional and discriminatory as none of the straight couples around us were being treated this way and there was a condescending “you’re not welcome here” atmosphere with the staff from the moment we arrived. Anyways, we went to Tu Madre right down the street and had great food and...
Read moreOur group of 7 (plus a dog) came here for brunch on a Saturday and overall it was a good experience. I love the stained glass rose sculpture that prettifies the exterior of the restaurant, and there's a plethora of outdoor seating with huge umbrellas so you're not absorbing too many UV rays. It's also dog-friendly on the patio and the trickling of the water fountain makes the experience all the more serene.
Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 10-3. There's a good selection of various entrees, soups, and salads. My boyfriend and I split the Hillhurst organic omelette ($13) with added avocado and the avocado and smoked salmon Caesar salad ($14). The omelette had spinach, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and cheddar, and it's served with a side of breakfast potatoes and toast. Unfortunately, they ran out of breakfast potatoes so they made us French fries instead. Light omelette, which I prefer, and plenty of good veggies. Of course, avocado makes everything better. The avocado and smoked salmon salad was decent enough, plenty of avocado, arugula, capers, and smoked salmon to split between us. While everything tasted good, the food wasn't mindblowing or super creative. I do like that they had a good selection of vegetarian options.
Our group also split three desserts - a pistachio cake, a banana cake, and a coconut cake. The banana cake was pretty good, my favorite out of the three. They put all the desserts in a case inside and you order from there.
Service was so-so. It wasn't crowded when we went, but we experienced some almost non-existent service at some points...
