We recently moved to the area and were craving some vegan hot links. We stumbled upon Earl's after a quick Google search and decided to check it out. When we got there, the vibe was super chill – folks were hanging out outside, chatting, and the atmosphere inside was warm and welcoming.
Earl himself came over while we were waiting in line and asked if we'd been there before. When we said no, he went into detail about all the vegan options they had. He convinced us to try the hot link, chili dog, and yellow cake.
Now, don't get me wrong, Earl's a cool dude, and the people working there were all friendly, but the food was just okay. Let me break it down for you:
So, Earl talked up these hot dogs, saying they were seared to perfection, but honestly, they were missing that crispy char we were hoping for. And the hot link? Turned out to be more like a Beyond chipotle sausage, which tasted a lot like chorizo – not really our thing. And that chili dog with cheese? The vegan cheese was kinda bland, like it was just there for looks. Maybe they could try making their own cheese in-house or using a brand with more flavor, like Parmela or Follow Your Heart.
As for the chili, Earl, it was pretty bland. Sorry, but it needed some serious seasoning to give it some oomph. And the texture was a bit mushy, (due to all the beans) which wasn't doing it for us. Maybe they could try adding something like Hella Nuts Ground Walnut Meat to give it more flavor and a better texture.
And let's talk about that yellow cake – it either needed to be fresher or taken off the menu altogether. If you're looking for a good vegan dessert, hit me up, and I'll give you some recommendations in the area.
Overall, we loved the vibe at Earl's and the friendly staff, but the vegan options could definitely use some improvement. Maybe they could bring in someone who knows their stuff about vegan food to help out. I get that they're partnering with Beyond, which is cool, but there's definitely room for improvement to make it more tasty...
Read moreI recently visited Earle’s for the first time, and let me just say—it won’t be my last! I ordered a turkey burger with cheese, a side of French fries, and their signature Playas Punch. The food was absolutely delicious, but surprisingly, it wasn’t the main reason I’ll be going back.
What really stood out to me was their exceptional customer service. From start to finish, the experience was seamless. Karl took my phone order, and his efficiency and professionalism set the tone. When I arrived to pick up my food, I thought there was a mix-up with my order, but Dwayne ( I hope I spelled this correctly) quickly clarified everything and went above and beyond to ensure I was taken care of. His helpfulness truly left an impression, and it’s rare to encounter that kind of genuine hospitality.
Earle’s is located in the heart of the Crenshaw District, and after doing some research and chatting with the co-owner Karl ( I really hope I didn’t butcher this name either) , I learned they’re proudly Black-owned—a detail that made me love this spot even more. They also cater to a variety of dietary preferences, offering great vegan options, including plant-based burgers and sausages.
If you’re in the area, Earle’s is a must-visit. Whether you’re looking for a delicious bite or simply a welcoming experience, this spot delivers on all fronts. Support local, support Black-owned, and treat yourself to some seriously good eats!
Ps: I was warm hearted finding out the owner took my owner, something about that just is so warm and personal to me. A great...
Read moreMan,
I’m so happy I stumbled across this hidden gem. This place right here is heaven on earth! First off, I stopped by because there were sooo many people outside of the restaurant. Shortly after walking in, the staff greeted me like they’ve met me before! They were so friendly & begin to give me meal suggestions right away. They have regular meat options and vegan choices available. Earle’s already had me sold on the customer service but then I tried the spicy beef link I was blown away! It’s 5 star food / service at a great price. It doesn’t break your wallet to dine here but I easily would’ve never known from the quality of the service/food. You drive down Crenshaw Blvd - you can’t miss it! I suggest trying what I had to eat & don’t get it to go. Take ten minutes out of your busy day - eat the food there. You never know which celebrities will be there or who you may meet. I met a handful of new people. I’m beyond ecstatic that I came by here today! This place will have my business for life! I can’t wait to come back!
Overall, Earle’s on Crenshaw has great atmosphere, service & food. You have the options to choose between vegan or non vegan food. Beyond great prices & the staff will make you feel right at home. Plus the restaurant is clean / covid safe, so don’t hesitate to dine in. I’m beyond pleased with my decision on dining in. I cannot wait to return! Thanks again! See you...
