Gogobop Korean Rice Bar is an affordable fusion-style Korean fast food place with great food and service.
Gogobop is located on the ground floor of a large building filled with shops and restaurants in a busy section of Wilshire corridor in the heart of Koreatown. Metered street parking is limited during peak traffic hours, public transportation options are close including bus and metro lines.
You can choose to eat outside or inside, it's not typically crowded. Ordering ahead is encouraged for takeout and delivery is available.
The menu consists primarily of bowls, snacks and plates with themes like Korean-Mexican or build-your-own. The most popular item on the menu is barbecue pork belly, which has a smokey mild flavor and a make-you-hungry barbeque aroma known to draw in customers from Wilshire Blvd.
If traditional Korean food tends to be a little too spicy for you, you are in luck, options are customizable for spice level and food allergies. You can add veggies or sauces depending on your preference.
I love the kimbap here, which is made-to-order and substantial. There's practically an entire egg in each slice of spam Kimbap! I found this restaurant while looking for LA's popular Korean kimbap spots, in honor of "Extraordinary Attorney Woo". Kimbap is Young Woo's favorite dish.
The staff members and manager donated the premium restaurant leftovers, like healthy fresh veggies, to a homeless veteran during one of my visits, which I thought was really cool. The music selection, fusion options and genuine great service from the people who work here make this place special.
There's a great mural just outside of Gogobop, an angel-themed Tribute to the Bryant family. Historians might appreciate the significance of this Koreatown tribute.
I took a friend here who is a very picky eater and he loves it. There's something for everyone on the menu. I hope newcomers have as good of a meal and experience as I...
Read moreThis is now the third time that I have attempted to go to this establishment for my lunch within a month and have been told by the staff, either via phone or in store, that they are not offering a menu item that is extremely popular. THE SPICY PORK is apparently never available anymore. While I understand there is a current shortage, I absolutely do not believe it is a shortage on the level that I have experienced trying to eat here. (See bottom portion). Does anybody else have this problem? Is it that much work to make the pork? Just looking for an answer on this pork thing. There's plenty of spicy marinated pork at the galleria in the same vicinity so I have to assume it comes down to the unwillingness of the employees/the preparation required. SHRUG Either way, I'm done.
Note, I am only writing this review because of the last time that I went in and they BLATANTLY lied to my face ,and then attempted to resolve the issue within 5 minutes. SERIOUSLY, how are you going to tell me that you literally have none in the store, see me typing on my phone, and then rush out to tell me it's currently being prepared?I wasn't willing to finish the review then, but if you would like to hear the rest of the story please let me know, whoever runs this place because this is bullshittt and trying to eat here is more effort...
Read moreHad a great lunch here yesterday May 25th, 2018. After a workout went back for dinner because the pork belly was incredible. Upon that same return understandably they were out of pork belly by my same day 745pm return. Food is definitely 5 stars, price 5 stars whoever I dealt with yesterday five stars. Today Saturday May 26th however was a different story. I showed at 245 for a pork belly bowl again. A sign on the store front stated a 3pm closing time and was informed that they had already started tearing down the food bar. I pressed a bit but got nowhere. If your sign stated a 245 closure I wouldn’t be as harsh with the stars. I travel for work and it’s rare I have a spot I return to in the same day let alone the next day. Check your sign and heed to its stated times. If you can get the pork belly do it....
