Three times in the last couple months, Iโve had my workouts cut short because they shortened their hours. I paid for a year up front to save money, and because the gym had hours and amenities that I felt were worth it, but now theyโre changing that stuff up and Iโm getting less than what I agreed to pay for.
I have to do my workouts late in the evenings due to my schedule, but now hours are cut short out of nowhere, and the only notification of that change is a piece of printer paper with tiny text taped to the front door. Yall have your membersโ email addresses and my phone numbers, dudeโฆ Why wouldnโt management notify their customers of this change?
First it was Saturdays closing at 9pm instead of the original 11pm close, and Sunday at 7pm instead of 11pm. I had to leave early twice due to these changes. Now, two months later, theyโve shortened their Saturday hours again to close at 8pm, and I have to cut my workout short again. This isnโt the product that was promised when I paid up front.
Additionally, management completely discontinued their program of providing towels to their customers. They claim itโs because customers are stealing towels. Nice, blame your customers for the fact that youโre too cheap to continue a service you advertised.
Employees have told me straight up that management is too cheap to pay for their wages and for the towels, and that thatโs why hours are changing and towels are gone. That much is pretty obvious but it was validating to get the confirmation. So yeah, another cheap business owner trying to preserve their personal profit at the expense of their underpaid employeeโs hours, and of their customerโs experience.
Wilfit, do better! And reimburse me for a chunk of my annual...
ย ย ย Read moreIn this ktown area, there seems to only be two gym options; here and the 24 a few blocks west. I've been enjoying Wilfit for the past couple months. They have decent equipment (above average). 4 rogue deadlift platforms, 3 squat racks+1 squat stand, sets of rogue bumper plates, 3-4 Rogue Ohio bars, 1 Rogue deadlift bar, and a couple weightlifting bars, a bunch of techongym machines, 2 cable crossover machines, 3-4 cable lat pulldown, 2 cable row, and more. They have concept2 rowers but dont seem to allow anyone to use them for some reason. They also offer pilates and personal training. Everyone, staff and members, have all been kind and considerate to each other from what I've seen. I've talked to a bunch of random people here and they've all been friendly. Although there will always be people who misuse equipment (ex. curling in the squat rack) or lack gym etiquette (allowing others to work in, returning weights) most members here use the equipment respectfully. While the Rogue ohio bars are nice, I wish they had some ohio power bars as well. Some of the other bars there are usable but others are really bad with worn knurling (smooth). They also have 2 different brands of plates. Just a minor inconvenience but I really prefer the plates to be identical lol. Some of the floor mats need to be replaced. They're severely worn down and the uneven flooring could potentially be dangerous. If they replaced the 3 old squat racks with platforms you see at other gyms and replaced some of their really old stuff, I think this gym would really...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is a completely honest and transparent review, with no bias toward this gym. Iโve been a member for two weeks now, mainly because itโs close to my house, although I also considered other options like 24 Hour Fitness. Still, I wanted to try something โdifferent.โ
At the time I usually go, itโs not very crowded, so I basically have everything I need to work out. The equipment is in good condition, the bathrooms (locker room area) are kept clean, and it seems like they even offer free parking (though I always walk).
But! Not everything is positive. For the price you pay ($$$), the gym definitely needs some painting and maintenance โ the walls look old, and in some areas the paint is even peeling off. Even though there are signs reminding members to clean up their space after using it, many people ignore this (at least in my experience). They also donโt put the weights back where they belong.
Another issue is ventilation. While it doesnโt smell like sweat, the air feels heavy and it gets uncomfortably hot. The menโs bathroom, while โacceptable,โ only has one sink to wash your hands, which seems a bit ridiculous. On top of that, Iโve found the toilet and urinal not properly cleaned on several occasions.
For now, Iโll keep going, but I really hope the gym improves its conditions over time, because itโs definitely not cheap. In fact, if you compare it to LA Fitness in Miracle Mile, that one is less expensive and in much better shape...
