Was almost lost when trying to find the outlet since it's located in a plaza that might not be visible if you're by the road side. Worry not about parking at the plaza since they apparently validated parking (yep! plus point for sure).
The gorgeously designed outlet only served grab and go since there's no seating on the spot. There were some outdoor benches at the center of the plaza though if you just couldn't wait to enjoy the goodies.
They offered bunch of sweets from Canele, Madeleine, Financier, Cookies, Cheesecake, and more; all of which did come in multiple flavors. So yeah, be prepared to be indecisive in front of the showcase. They were super helpful though in assisting you making your choices by recommending the favorite ones. It was nice that the price was decent enough for LA standard, so you could definitely opt for more than one or a couple.
For my initial visit, I started with the Ube Financier, which was kept in the chiller, maybe due to the cream on top. It came in spongy yet not too airy texture with luscious ube cream topping. It was decent, but not really my top choice. My second was their Earl Grey Milk Chocolate Tigre, which was basically buttery cake kinda similar to financier IMO, with milk chocolate ganache at the center. I definitely loved this more than the financier, especially the combo of earl grey and milk chocolate which to my surprise was awesome and helped balancing the taste to be not overly sweet. Another one I tried was their thick salted chocolate chip cookies, which decadently had crispy edge though I wish being more gooey inside as it's tad dry. Nonetheless, flavor wise I felt like classic chocolate chip with a sprinkle of sea salt indeed never failed. The creme de la creme, however, was certainly their canele which I was beyond thrilled to finally find in LA. I had my favorite one in London which I thought unbeatable, and it's impressive that LA now had something comparable to satisfy the craving without having to fly over 5K miles away. It flawlessly had that crispy coating, moist center, and just the right sweetness level. I surely made the right choice going with matcha as Brown Bag definitely elevated the overall taste with this matcha flavor and that matcha cream top. It was no brainer that their canele is NEVER TO BE MISSED if you ever paid Brown...
Read moreFirst I want to say that this is the best dessert I've ever had in LA! I've been wanting to eat dessert here for so long! This is also the place I would pass by on my way to and from work. But unfortunately I get off work too late and it's closed every time I pass by. I had the day off and I also saw that Brown Cookie Bag was available on doordash and I didn't hesitate to order the dessert for $55, but I came right after enjoying only two desserts to review because I was so eager to let others know. This is the best cannelé I've ever had! This is the best cannelé I've ever had! This is the best cannelé I've ever had! OMG, I don't know how to describe it, this is like the textbook of canelé, all canelé lovers should try it, it's just great! Also, I was attracted by the appearance of the blueberry cream scones, and this one tasted great, the scones had a very strong aroma and the blueberry cream tasted fresh as can be. My kitty came and grabbed it while I was eating it accordingly! I have many more desserts I haven't tried! But these two were enough to conquer me. I'm sure I'll be sneaking out of work one day to purchase...
Read moreOh my goodness! Absolutely lovely display of delicious dainty financiers, Madelines, kabocha pie, pound cakes, cream puffs and cakes. My absolute favorite was the Canelé. It has the perfect crisp on the outside! For those who say that it’s burnt, it’s not and it’s supposed to look like that to give the right texture and taste. Even in France customers think it’s burnt or have chocolate flavor but it’s the way it’s supposed to be baked. There’s a lot of fake Canelé in LA.
Got a box to take to a meeting! It was a hit! Will come back for more! Now I’ll frequent this Starbucks location so that I can drop by brown bag cookies!
Will definitely come back for thanksgiving and Christmas gifts for clients. Their pastries are better than Republique, Pitchon or Louie Bottega for sure.
The bakery is a take out place, no place to sit. It’s located on the other side (near parking lot, next to Starbucks). Gift card is available!
Regarding the one star review mentioning how they gave him cheap carton box because he’s Mexican, pay no attention, I always get the same box he posted and I am Korean. They’re...
