I’ve been coming to hot wok Café for almost 8 years and in Those eight years there have been birthdays, graduation parties, lunches with friends, dinner dates with mom and family dinners so it saddens me today to leave a negative review. Today upon walking in we weren’t even greeted, just very rudely asked how many. I’m not sure if he was confused or if there was a language barrier but he proceeded in asking us how many 4 more times in a condescending tone After each one of us answered How many in our party he reluctantly seats us, It’s almost as if he was messing with us. Being distracted he only took two drink orders and left to the back upon hearing new customers he quickly runs over and Welcomes them. Staring in our direction I can see them talking and pointing at our table. He then walks over and tells us we have to move to another table To accommodate his new customers I’m not sure if they were his friends or family but keep in mind the restaurant was empty and all of the other tables were available. Being obvious that my mother is disabled (she’s in a wheelchair) Disheartened I asked you really want me to move my disabled mother to a different table even though we were here first and she was already settled in? And in a malicious tone he said yes Enabling this behavior one of the new customers said Yes!!! we need the table. My mother feeling embarrassed already wanted to go to a different restaurant, she has been through a lot and doesn’t deserve this type of discrimination. Not sure if there’s favoritism here But it’s something I simply will not Tolerate! I will not be spending my hard earned money at this restaurant anymore. There are plenty of businesses that are...
Read moreThis place has somewhat taste worthy food and decent pricing for lunch. The food is very consistent. I have only one issue but to me its a big issue. I have noticed that they only sell egg rolls in orders of four for $7 bucks. Now this may sound ok right, so what's the problem?? Well the problem is. I don't want want four egg rolls. I only want one maybe two. Can you believe they wont sell one egg roll. So, they'd rather not sale any??? The issue is they know that most people like Egg Rolls, its part of the experience. I don't like being forced to do anything. But lets look at the money they're losing. I know I'm not the only one that does not want 4 egg rolls every time I come here. lets say they sold 1 for $1.50 cent. and they sell at least 10 a day. That's $15 a day and $450 a month. That's $5,400.00 annually on top of how ever many people choose to buy 4 for $7 dollars. Throwing money away because they want to Jedi mind trick you into buying what you don't need. Id rather go somewhere where I'm not penalized for only wanting one....
Read moreI ordered delivery from Hot Wok Cafe, and was very happy with the results.
I'd initially been planning to order from a different restaurant, but they had "normalized" the names a bit. (What Chinese restaurant doesn't have chicken lo mein on the menu?) Hot Wok had higher ratings, so I took the plunge. (Hot Wok's website looks like it hasn't been updated since 2005, but it has pictures and good descriptions and worked, so not actually complaining.)
The delivery order showed up exactly at the time I requested. The food was hot and in well sealed plastic containers. (Definitely recyclable, possibly reusable.)
We didn't order the most exciting dishes, so I can't really comment on the flavors. But the chicken lo mein tasted as it should. The other dishes were solid as well.
Most importantly, the fortune cookies were crisp but not stale. (And mine promised a very bright future.)
I'll definitely be ordering from Hot Wok Cafe again. (And now that I've confirmed the basics are good, will likely branch out to something more...
